In The Spotlight (LS au)

1 - "To love or have loved, that is enough"

(If you are looking up the songs, start Harry's from 2:36 in the video, that's where he's singing from. For Louis it doesn't really matter, and for Nialls he's just singing the beginning part)

"Hello, My name is Louis Tomlinson. I am eighteen years old and today I will be performing a song entitled This is the moment from Jekyll and Hyde. This piece is not asterisks for anything so please sit back and enjoy."

The boy, Louis, with bright eyes glanced around the room nervously but with confidence?  He immediately snaps into character as the first note hits. His voice fills the room, soft with a light rasp as he sings the slow ballad. Harry had never heard the song before but Louis had seemed to sing it perfectly. After he was done, there was a polite clap as he went to sit down. There were a few moments of silence. Then the directing team spoke up.

"Number 18?" An energetic boy jumps up a few seats down from him. His flushed cheeks become brighter as the whole room stares at him. Though he doesn't lose his toothy grin as he walks up to the stage. He introduces himself as Niall singing "If I were a rich man". His smile is ever so bright the room erupts in laughter as he finishes the song and he thanks the room sitting back down. The nerves in Harry's legs and hands never seem to cease as numbers 19-27 are called, the turning in his stomach doesn't help either.  The last boy was a dark haired boy, he had tanned skin and didn't seem nervous at all as he sat back down next to Harry. The judges spend a bit of time on him as Harry tries to swallow the food itching to come back up his throat. 

"28?" Harry's pulse almost stops as his hands start to shake uncontrollably. He glances down the line of boys sitting with their knees bouncing or chewing on their nails. He takes a deep breath standing up and walking towards the stage. As he climbs up the stage the whole room is silent watching him curiously. As he looks back at his empty seat he notices the boy from earlier. Louis, is the only one that stares at him with a slight tilt in his head and a small smile on his face. Somehow, that small smile, helps his hands to stop their shaking. He clears his throat.

"Hello... My name is Harry Styles, I am sixteen years old and I will be singing a song called Close Every Door from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. This song does not have asterisks for anything so please enjoy." He stammers out trying to copy the words Louis had said before his performance. His voice shakes a bit in the first few lines but eventually the adrenaline kicks in and he gets more into character. He takes a deep breath singing the last few lines and then the track stops. The room is silent for a few moments, as he looks around he finds the other boys just stare in shock. He's not sure why, the irish blonde one, Niall is the first to clap. He whoops and hollers as he claps excitedly. The rest of the boys join him. The only person still sitting in shock is Louis. Harry thanks the directing team and sits back down. The boy who went before him turns to him.

"That was amazing, you did a great job." He says, Harry quietly thanks him. "I'm Zayn." He holds out his hand, Harry takes it.

"Harry." Zayn nods for a second when the directors call the next number, and it goes like that for the next hour.

At dinner he sits with Zayn and his rowdy friends. Louis is amongst them, he's currently throwing food at Niall. Who, conveniently, catches it in his mouth. The boy across from him is a lot calmer he gave him a small smile when he sat down. A couple other boys laugh loudly at Louis and Niall as they get into a food fight. Zayn rolls his eyes trying to get Harry involved in the conversation. 

"Oh! Harry, have you met Liam yet?" Zayn says with a smile, gesturing to the boy sitting across from him. Harry shakes his head as he swallows the dry bread roll he was given. "Oh well, Liam- Harry. Harry- Liam." And with that he goes back to chatting with Louis, Niall, and the other boys. Harry smiles and waves at Liam. Who does the same back.
