It was a quiet morning in the sleepy town of Salem, Oregon. As a lone, black hearse drove down a quiet little side street, the early morning sun began peaking over the trees and was shining rays of golden light on the passengers inside. One was a young man of at least seventeen with thin, dark blue hair which framed his face perfectly and helped enhance his beautiful light blue eyes. His thin body was covered by a simple black shirt and a pair of blue flare shorts. On his feet were a regular pair of sandals. All in all, he seemed like any other human you might run into on the street. Sitting next to him, however, was a beautiful young woman of at least nineteen. She had large, bright red eyes and long, waist-length white hair. She wore a black mesh suit over her shapely and lithe pale body. On top of that was a strapless, white cupped bralette with shawl-like sleeves which hung low on her shoulders and a black skirt with red, black, and white tunic-like fabric overtop of it with white panels on her hips. Around her neck was a white posture choker with gold accents and red gems which matched the rest of her outfit beautifully. Overall, she appeared to be like any other gorgeous woman you might find on TV or in a magazine. However, one look below her torso would give a different impression. Instead of a pair of long pale legs, the young woman was sporting a long white serpentine body with red and gold cuffs decorating the end of her tail. Despite this, the young man paid no mind to her lower half, seeing as how the two of them practically grew up together.

"Oh, Glenn," the lamia asked the young man next to her as she looked out the window. "Isn't this exciting? It's rare for us to find work this far outside of Lindworm."

"I know how you feel, Sapphee," Glenn responded. "I was actually a little surprised when we received that letter the other day."

"Honestly," Sapphee replied, turning to look at him. "I was a little surprised as well. Though, it is flattering to know that the Litbeit Clinic is so well known this far west. However, this school we'll be working at temporarily, have you ever heard of it?"

"Not before last week," Glenn admitted. "Though I did do some research on it."

He then leaned forward in his seat and picked up a black messenger bag, setting it on his lap and opening it to rifle through it contents.

"Apparently," he explained as he pulled out a few pieces of loose leaf paper. "It's the only high school of its kind in the world. An academy and boarding school where all monsters and non-humans, no matter what species they are or what background they come from, can learn life skills and academics in a safe and non-judgmental environment."

"Hmhm," the lamia allowed herself to giggle at that. "It sounds a lot like Nemea Academy."

"Yes," Glenn agreed with her. "But Nemea is a medical school. The one we're going to be working at is a high school. Apparently, most monster and non-human learning academies are segregated by species, and it's given way to a lot of discord and species-ism from the monsters and non-humans who both run and attend such academies. But the school we're heading to, Monster High, is striving to integrate all monster and non-human species in order to stop the discourse and create a brighter future for monster and non-human kind. There are even rumors going around that the headmistress herself even wants to integrate humans as well."

"That's another thing I was curious about," Sapphee said. "The headmistress of the school. According to the letter she sent us, her name is Nora Bloodgood and her full title is Headless Headmistress Bloodgood. What intrigues me the most is the 'Headless' part of her title. Given that Monster High is an all inclusive academy, do you think she might be a dullahan?"

"I'm not sure..." Glenn admitted. "Though, according to what I could find on her, she's apparently a headless horsewoman. So she could possibly be a sub-species of dullahan. But, we won't really know until we meet her in person."

"Fair enough," she agreed. "Speaking of which, how much longer do we have until we reach the school?"

Just then, the hearse slowly pulled to a stop in front of a large wrought-iron gate with a school crest incorporated into the design.

"Looks like we're here." Glenn said before gathering his things and slinging his bag over his shoulder. "All set, Sapphee?"

His assistant nodded and the two of them stepped out of the car and into the morning sunlight before opening the gate and walking towards the castle-like manor that served as the school.
