Kouji stares into Tamas eyes before stepping forward and pointing to the sky. Tama follows the boy's index finger and gawks at the mysterious figure towering over the building.
"Do you think" Kouji pauses "Do you think they are here to hurt us? Do you think they even could?"
"I'm not too sure about that. I'm sure in due time, we will find out." Tama replies, still staring at the figure.
"I don't know if that is something I want to wait around for."
The boy go silent for a little over 15 seconds. It wasn't an eery silence, just awkward.
"Thank yo-"
"My name-"
They look each other in the eyes and start laughing.
"I'm sorry, you go first." Tama says.
"I was going to say thank you for telling the teacher I was here. I was scared." says Kouji.
Tama smiles and explains that it wasn't a problem. Before they can continue speaking, the bell rings and the shadows disappear almost instantly.
"Scratch what I was going to say before. Can you meet me at the new library near the supermarket after school today?" Tama asks.
Kouji nods and the boys walk into school together. Kouji waves goodbye and they part ways. With only two classes left to go, the pudgy brunette boy walks to his next class with a smile.
A little less that two hours passes by and the bell rings three times, which means schools over. Kouji collects his things and heads down to the locker room to change his shoes before heading to the newest library in town.
"KOUUUUJI!" yells Lydia "What are you up to after school? I was thinking we could go to the park for ice cream?"
"I'm sorry Lydia, I can't. I'm going to the new library to study."
"Awww, tomorrow then?" Lydia responds with curious hope.
Kouji nods and smiles at Lydia. They walk out of school together and part ways. On his way to the library, Kouji see's children around his little sisters age run across the street. He quickly focuses his vision back on the road, but it was too late.
Kouji drives his bicycle directly into a pothole and he flips over. He holds his breath as he drives his bike onto the side walk. He stands but sucks air through his teeth when he notices a stinging pain on his knee. He looks down and blood quickly drips down his calf.
The olive toned boy tries to ignore this pain as he treads along to his destination. Before twenty minutes, he arrives at the library.
"Oh god, what if I drip blood on their floor?" Kouji says to himself as he locks his bike to the bike dividers.
He walks into the library and wanders around for a bit before spotting Tama, who happens to be looking through the books on Greek literature.
"Hey Tama."
The butterscotch blonde boy turns around, "Oh hey Kouji! How long have you been here?"
"Not even five minutes." Kouji replies.
They both go silent, awkwardly standing in the primary wooden library. Tama looks around and then look at Kouji in full view.
"Kouji, why is your knee bleeding?" Tama asks and kneels down to examine his wound.
"Oh, my bike flipped over on the way here. It's fine. It's already dried."
Tama looks up at the younger boy, clearly annoyed but also worried. "it's not fine. We are going to get this cleaned before I walk you home, okay?"
