Author's Note:

This is a fun short story I started writing about a year ago and decided to finish for this Halloween. It's only two chapters and I should have part two finished in the next couple weeks.
Like usual Eddie is Eddie and Spencer is based on Stone.

"Mara, you forgot to remind me about the towels," I hear my aunt say.
"What?" I ask. I'm watching a movie on my laptop so I didn't really hear what she said.
She walks over to where I'm laying on the loveseat, my laptop propped on my legs. She drops a laundry basket by me.
"You forgot to remind me about the towels. Remember? The towels?" she asks.
"Yeah...the towels," I say thinking back to this morning.

I was in the kitchen trying to figure out what to eat for breakfast when my aunt came in there and plopped the same laundry basket down by the back door.
"I forgot to bring the towels to cabin six. When they check in will you remind me to give them their towels," she tells me.
"I can go do it now."
"No, you need to eat and when they check in remind me about the towels," she says.

Of course, both of us forgot.
"Why did you put them in cabin six?" I ask her.
It's Halloween in a couple of nights, all the other cabins are empty. We only have six, cabin six is the furthest away.
"Four guys barely old enough to drink on Halloween? I'd like to get some sleep this weekend," she says.
I smile. I love my aunt, that's why I'm here helping her out, but I swear sometimes she acts like an old lady. "You're not a hundred years old, Steph, but if you want me to take the towels to them I will."
I set my laptop on the coffee table before I stand up. I stretch for a few seconds, then cram my feet in my boots that were sitting next to the loveseat. I pick up the basket of towels.
"I'll be back in a few...what's for lunch?"
She gives me a look, head cocked to the side, one eyebrow raised.
"What?" I ask her.
"Is that how you're going?"
"These are the towels aren't they?" I ask her.
"They are...but is that what you're wearing?"
I look down at what I'm wearing. Jeans, okay they've seen better days but we're in the damn woods and I'm not out here to impress anyone, tie dye sweatshirt I swiped from an ex and it's a little big and hanging off one shoulder, and my old black docs, not tied because I plan on scuffling down to their cabin, handing them the basket of towels and scuffling back.
I look back at Steph. "I'm not seeing a problem here...unless this is a set up. Is someone else there? Did you set me up?"
"No...god...what goes on in your brain? You're always jumping to these far off conclusions. Just pull your shirt up, don't expose so much flesh," she says while trying to pull my shirt back up on my shoulder.
"Why? Are they flesh eating zombies or something?"
She sighs. "You live in your own little world don't you..."
"Psh...you love me. You would be bored as fuck out here alone without your favorite niece to keep you entertained."
"Entertained? You either have your face buried in your laptop or phone. I've almost forgotten what you look like," she tells me.
I clomp towards the front door. "I'll be back in five, we'll spend some quality time together. We'll make lunch and figure out what movies we're going to watch tomorrow."

About halfway there I kinda wish I had made the effort to tie my boots because they're falling off.
It takes me a bit longer to shuffle my way to their cabin. It's not far...like if we were in the city it would be about a half a block...maybe? I mean from our cabin you can kinda see the roof of their cabin, but that's about it. In a month when all the leaves are on the ground, you can see a little more.

I lose a boot walking up the steps to the porch, luckily it lands on the step and doesn't fall under the porch or anything.
I set the laundry basket of towels on the porch and start to knock on the door, but I listen for a few seconds. I can hear them talking, but very faintly so I can make out what they're saying. Sounds like two of them are laughing.
I knock on the door.
"Hang on," someone from inside says.
I hear footsteps towards the door. I take a deep breath and paint a smile on my face. Everyone is always telling me to quit frowning or don't make that face, when I meet people so I will be nice, or at least try to be nice.
The door opens and a youngish guy is standing there. He's not bad looking. Has hair about to his shoulders, medium brown, super straight, it looks soft.
"Um hey can I..." he says while I say, "Oh hey my aunt..." and then we both start laughing.
He smiles, "Sorry, go ahead."
"Oh...um...here's the towels."
"Towels?" he asks looking confused.
"Yeah. Um...my aunt...um..."
"Your aunt?" he asks shaking his head.
"Are you going to repeat everything I say?" I ask him.
He starts laughing. "No, sorry. I'll quit interrupting. Promise. You were saying..."
"My aunt, who runs this place, forgot to bring your towels," I say and gesture towards the laundry basket sitting by my feet.
"Oh thanks. We were wondering if there were towels," he says while bending over to pick up the basket.
"Yeah we forgot to bring them after we washed them."
He stands up and looks at me. "Why do you only have one shoe on?"
I look down at my feet. I had momentarily forgotten I lost a boot.
"It fell off. I was being lazy and didn't tie them."
I go grab my boot and sit on the step to put it on.
"Hey, Eddie, there's towels here now," the guy yells into the cabin.
I put my boot on, tie both of them, and go back to the door. I'm about to say yeah, here you go, just put the dirty ones back in the basket, enjoy your weekend, and head back but the door is open and I see someone coming into the living room from down the hall and I think he's as surprised as me. We both gasp loudly.
"Jesus Spencer! You didn't tell me someone was here," he says and grabs the closest thing to him, a throw pillow off the sofa, to cover his nakedness.
My hands fly up to my face to cover it. "I'm sorry," I say laughing.
"Yeah, this is uh...I don't know her name, but she brought towels," the guy at the door says laughing.
I slowly pull my hands down to see if it's safe to look. "Mara...I'm Mara..."
"Hi Mara, I'm Spencer," he says and holds a hand out to me. "That's Eddie," he says gesturing to the naked guy holding a pillow to his groin.
"I'm really sorry," I say trying not to laugh.
"It's fine. I didn't see anybody so I thought it was okay. I was about to take a shower."
"Yeah, I was sitting down tying my boots. And I should go before my aunt thinks I left or something. Um...if you need anything you know where we are."
I head down the steps.
"Nice to meet you, Mara. Are you going to be here all weekend?" Spencer asks.
I turn around. "Yeah. I'm kinda staying here with her for a while, so yeah I'll be here."
"Our other friends will be here in a little while, maybe you could come by if you get bored...or something."
I shrug my shoulders. "Yeah, maybe. I'll see."
