Icarus

Idk what I did with this one. I love the story of Icarus and the song Icarus by Bastille so I attempted to write a poem.

——

Soaring the azure skies with wings of twine,

you reached for the sun, your eyes blinded by its light.

It enveloped you in its warmth for a moment

and then you pummeled from heaven.

Your wings gone, your eyes wild.

You drowned in the depths of hell and wailed for help

but no one ventured forth,

for who wants to enter hell?

Your story preserved, your body lost,

heaven and earth woe for you, Icarus.
