It was a late night with your family at midsummers, you had just gotten to your car on your way to the after party with JJ. You are a kook so you were a part of the club, and of course were invited to midsummers, even though everyone knew you were a pouge at heart.
You had made JJ come with you because you said you needed a pouge to come with so you didn't feel like such an outsider. When you got to the car, JJ opened your door for you and smiled, "Get in pretty girl i'm taking you somewhere, this party is lame as fuck".
You didn't even question him and just got in. JJ did this a lot with you, taking you out for random late night drives and finding a spot just to sit and talk. He had been your best friend for years, so when he asked, he typically received when it came to you.
JJ then shut your door and got in the drivers side, starting the car and driving off to god knows where. JJ continued to drive for a few more minutes before pulling over on the side of the road.
You looked over at him confused as he got out of the car and walked over to your side to open the door. He opened your door and you stepped out, shutting it behind you as you started following JJ to wherever he was walking. After a silent 5 minute walk, you came to a beautiful cliff looking over the ocean.
He had never taken you here before and you had no idea this place even existed. JJ took your hand and walked you over to a beautiful weeping willow tree and sat with you under it. You sat there just talking about life for a few minutes before you noticed him looking at you.
It wasn't just a normal look though, he was looking at you with something in his eyes you had been noticing more and more lately. "Why are you looking at me like that?" You laughed. He snapped out of his trance but continued to stare at you trying to find his words. "Um I have something to tell you, but I don't know how you are going to react". You simply looked at him and said, "You can tell me anything, you know that".
After a few seconds of him trying to find his words, he plainly said, "Im in love with you." You were stunned. You had no idea what he was going to say but you definitely didn't expect that. As you stared in to his eyes you could tell he was getting anxious to hear a response from you, but he knew it was sudden and you were thinking so he just let you be.
"JJ, I love you too, with all my heart". You could tell he was happy to hear that due to the deep breath he let out once he heard your words. He grabbed you and set you on his lap so you were straddling him and said, "I am so happy to hear that you have no idea how long i've been wanting to tell you and-". You cut him off with a kiss, but not just any kiss. The kiss. The kiss you only can have with your soulmate.
You and JJ pulled apart and looked into each others eyes simply enjoying each others presence. Now you understood what that look in his eye was. It was love. You never in a million years would have thought that JJ Maybank would be in love with you, that he could ever feel the same way. Sure he had stopped all his hookups but you thought that it was simply because he was bored with them, not because he was in love with you.
You then felt a raindrop on your arm, and you looked back up at JJ with excitement in your eyes. You got off his lap and grabbed his hands pulling him up and out of under the tree. It was now down pouring but you didn't mind it because that meant you got to do your favorite activity with JJ; dancing in the rain.
You took each other in your arms and started to sway, your head lying comfortably on his chest and his head nuzzled in your shoulder. As you danced, you thought about all the good times with JJ and what made you really truly love him. You realized all the signs that he loved you too, you were just too blind to see it before.
"I am so in love with you Y/N Y/L/N", He said looking down at you. "I love you too JJ, more than I ever thought was possible." After a few more 'I love you's, the rain started to get too much for you so you and JJ went to the car and drove home. There were no words to describe how happy you were to finally be able to truly be with your soulmate. That night was truly perfect, dancing in the rain with the love of your life.
