"I'm Departing".
Leaving my peace and piece of soul at Seoul National University. This journey bears no commitment to a relationship, nor does it harbor any immediate promise of return.
Will he wait for me? For I shall return—back to my love, back to the very heart that brings me both solace and completeness.
Eight years of friendship, and now I find myself compelled to venture far from him for five years. The courage to confess my feelings never found its way to my lips. I never had the courage to confess my feelings to him. But as I embark on this journey, I can't help but wonder: What if I had told him? What if I had said, I feel like what if I told him with the numerous chances that I've got that 'I love you to the moon and back'? Will he break our friendship? Would that declaration fracture our friendship? Love can bloom between friends, can it not? But now, I lack the strength, for I do not wish to bind him in a long-distance relationship where I cannot offer the time he deserves. If he remains single until my return, I shall propose, for I will obtain U.S. citizenship, and I shall proudly marry him.
"Jungkookah, wait for Hyung. I'll return for you. You are my everything; do you realize that? Please, do not cry like this. Eat well and grow strong. Five years will pass in the blink of an eye," Jimin said as he kissed 18-year-old Jungkook's forehead, who was clinging to him tightly.
"Hyung... I'll never wait for you. You're terrible," Jungkook retorted, anger and sadness lacing his words, piercing Jimin's heart like a pin and exiting like a dagger. But Jimin restrained himself and laughed, attempting to soothe Jungkook's anger.
5 years went like this, that's what he said.
With pain and tears shed in the night, yearning for a broad shoulder to lean on and seeking solace in a strong embrace, they matured for each other and for the world.
Word spread among Jimin's circle of friends about his return, and they were thrilled. It wasn't just any return; it was the return of the CEO of the company he had worked at for five years, now transferred to the Seoul branch due to his in-depth knowledge of the market. They are all happy for Jimin cause he's also returning permanently. After all, they transferred him to join the Seoul branch.
Jimin touched down in Seoul only to hear that his beloved was about to be married. He wept for over an hour during his journey home. But he resolved to partake in the celebration and bask in Jungkook's happiness. It was all that mattered. His heartache could wait, for it had to wait a long time.
Jimin arrived in Busan and met Jungkook.
Oh, "Hyung, when did you get back? I wasn't informed; I'm sorry, I've been busy."
"I know, Jungkookie. You've grown up and are planning to get married. I heard" Jimin cuts Jungkook in the middle of his words.
Jungkook froze for a moment with this new information about himself but after thinking for a bit, he joins the game.
"Yes, Hyung. I didn't propose to him earlier, so I'm doing it today. I'll likely be a married man within this year," Jungkook said. It felt like a dagger pierced Jimin this time.
"Oh, perfect timing. I returned just in time to celebrate. Right?" Jimin said, managing a painful smile.
It's not a hard task to understand Jimin's switching emotions, and Jungkook knows him like an open book. Even after all those years, that man is still the same. He caught the change in Jimin's voice and could sense he was hurt badly. Jungkook understood Jimin's emotional vulnerability, so he didn't press further.
"Alright, Hyung, you should rest. We'll see you tomorrow." Jungkook left—no hugs, no forehead kisses, no bunny smiles. In the span of five years, everything had changed drastically; only Jimin's feelings remained, lingering like a shadow beneath Jungkook's feet.
Tomorrow .... tom ...tomorrow. Jimin repeats it in his mind cause he heard that tomorrow JK is proposing to the love of his life.
So, he let it be. The more pain he gets, the more he can try to move on from that little ball of joy who's a strong man now.
Tae, his soulmate, forces him to look pretty cause they're all dressed up like going to someone's wedding. But Jimin had no intention of dressing up because he was already in his office attire. After all, he went to see his office management & everything before joining, and he is on a whole month's leave cause it takes a whole month to transfer the documents and hand over the duty to Jimin. So, after attending the office for some hours, he came back to his friends to attend JK's proposal ceremony with a heavy and painful heart.
Jimin, I already warned you to wear something nice, but if you don't now, don't regret it later, cause those pictures will remain forever. Tae warns Jimin.
Taehyung, I'm exhausted, but I'm going cause I don't want to break another promise. Jimin replied with watery eyes.
Ok. It's the only word Tae told Jimin, dragging Jimin to his car.
They both drove to a place that looked like a marriage ceremony hall. It feels like JK will directly marry that man right after proposing. That thought indeed tears Jimin with its sharp nails.
When Jimin enters the big, decorated hall, a soft black satin blindfold hides his overall front view from him.
Jimin panicked but relaxed after Tae told him that all of them were blindfolded; it was a ritual. Jimin felt absurd but didn't say that out loud.
Someone took his hand in his arms and asked him to follow in his footsteps and by the voice, Jimin felt like it was his dad.
After climbing 3 steps properly, he landed on a normal plane and felt that someone losing the blindfold knot around his eyes.
After gaining his vision properly, the first thing he saw was a keeled JK in front of him with a diamond ring.
Do you think it's easy to run from me? Never Jimin Hyung. Even if I've got to wait for the next 5 more years or a lifetime, I'll wait for you because I know that you're the only one for me. I never felt like I needed anyone apart from you. Even if you never told me how much I mean to you, somehow I know how much I mean to you. I Love You to the moon and back, Hyung. Those words that you want to tell me, I'm telling you.
When you cut me in the middle of your words yesterday, I repeated that word in my mind twice and went silent and went with the flow cause I'm smart enough to understand it was all of Hyung's plan.
I already knew that you were returning and that I was also waiting to propose to you for marrying me. Cause I know that the feelings are mutual and not only you felt the pain and loneliness I felt those too.
Will you marry me, Hyung?
Jimin was crying like a baby all this time, holding Tae's and his dad's arms.
Yes, I do a hundred years; in every life, I'll accept. I love you, baby I love you so much that it hurts. Jungkook hugs Jimin tightly and sobs like a baby in his embrace, cause the love of his life is now going to be his husband.
