Everything was upside-down. Y/N's life was a finely woven piece of cloth that was slowly being unravelled into a single string. Although relieved that she still had her little sister with her, Y/N was terrified at the thought of what was happening to her dads at this moment. What was happening to the rest of her family, to her friends. Of the girls from the Healing track, who'd been in the same class as her for years. She was worried about... about everyone on the Boiling Isles, as they were surrendered to that Titan-like sun-moon child. Y/N spent her nights awake, as she couldn't help but worry about the safety of witches she's barely talked to. As she couldn't help feeling the crushing guilt she felt when she, along with her sister and her sister's friends, escaped through the portal, into the human realm. They were so lucky that Luz's mom Camila was nice enough to allow them, along with a stray basilisk, to stay at her house. She'd been providing for them for a few days now as they recovered from the fight in the demon realm. Y/N had been looking for a way to make money to help Camila financially, but her job applications had all been rejected as she didn't have a human education to show. She wondered if she could ever be useful to the stray children who needed help now more than ever. She was one of the oldest, wasn't she? She wasn't brave and although she liked information, she knew next to nothing about creating portals, and she especially didn't know anything about that cursed child that was haunting the Boiling Isles. She was useless, absolutely useless. And down she went, into her spiral. Rolling herself up in her cocoon of darkness where all she could do was hate herself and her weaknesses. Y/N wiggled herself out of Willow's grasp and sat up to look at the rest of the sleeping girls in the room. They'd decided to have all the girls sleep on mattresses in Luz's bedroom, while the boys slept in the guest room. Judging by everyone's heavy breathing, they were probably in deep sleep. Y/N slowly and quietly slid out from under the blanket and crept over to the door. As quietly as she could, she pushed down the handle, opened the door, and slipped out of the room. She gently closed the door in the dark behind her. Y/N walked barefoot over the wooden floor of the house, to the living room. She didn't want to end up softly crying in the dark again. There was nothing lonelier than trying to disguise your quiet sobbing in a room full of people who'd comfort you if they knew you were crying.

Y/N wasn't the only one who couldn't sleep. When she'd arrived downstairs, she found Hunter sitting on the living room sofa, watching the Animal Channel. Gus, Y/N and Hunter had been watching the Animal Channel and other informational human channels whenever they were out of energy and had nothing to do. Hunter looked up, and Y/N was painfully aware that he could see her face. Her concealment stone had stopped working, considering it used the magic in the air around her and there was no natural magic in the human realm. Y/N hated showing her face to people, and she noticed she'd gotten a lot quieter in the last few days, but she had to grit her teeth and keep going. Everyone was doing their best, she should do her best, too.

''You couldn't sleep either, huh?'' Hunter asked.

Y/N shook her head and quietly went to sit next to him, on the other end of the sofa. They were currently watching footage in a peculiar forest with thin trees that had green bark and little leaves. A type of bear Y/N had never seen before appeared into view. It had black fur on its arms, but white fur on its belly. It also had black fur around its eyes, like little pools of smudged mascara. The bear was quite cute.

''The humans call that a panda bear.'' Hunter narrated. ''It sits in the forest and eats those green poles all day.''

Y/N wished she was a panda bear. Cute, cuddly. Plus, a panda bear had nothing to worry about, it could just eat green poles all day. Y/N wished she could just eat nice stuff all day and not have to worry about a divine creator who was probably doing something horrible to one of her dads right now. She pulled her knees up to her chest. Shouldn't think about that, she came here because she didn't want to cry.
