Greyson

My brother came out next looking worn out and tired but not near as bruised up as Greyson. Once Nick saw me he walked up to me and Greyson stayed behind the car looking around him. And I'm sure that whatever bruised that gorgeous face of his was the same thing he was looking for. Once Nick got to me, I could see that he couldn't decide to be mad that I didn't stay in the car, or happy I was putting in an effort.

“I thought I told you to stay in the car?” He asked with a look on his face that reminded me of a look I was always seeing our dad give him.

“That’s funny, I don't remember you being my boss.” He was clearly not happy with my response, especially when Greyson came up and whispered something to him.

He sighed,” Listen Ivy, there are people here that I don't want you getting mixed up with.” I knew the world was a dangerous place. I didn't need my brother to tell me that.

“Listen Nick I appreciate your concern but I'm clearly fine, and I can take care of myself just fine.  Believe it or not I actually survived a month without you already and surprise I'm still alive.” I shot back, giving him a disapproving look not liking what he was insinuating here.

He gave me a grim smile that turned into a chuckle, “You know what you're right sorry, you know how I worry.” He reached out to give me a hug which I quickly returned. Me and my brother fought a lot but we never stayed mad at each other for long. Life was too short for that and we both knew it. After he gave me a hug he put both his hands on my shoulders far enough to give me space but close enough so no one else could hear him. “But seriously Ivy, there are dangerous people, and then there are the dangerous people here. So please for the sake of your big brother next time just stay in the car?”

Reluctantly, I agreed. I knew that the odds of me actually listening to his request were slim but I agreed to give him a piece of mind. “ I suppose I can stay in the car next time, after all I wouldn't want you to strain your old bones thinking I was gonna die.”  He gave me a half smile and then a half shove.

“I'm not old and you know it.” I laughed, if there was one thing Nick didn't like to be called it was old. And don't get me wrong he definitely was not old, but it was certainly fun to see him get all butt hurt.

“Whatever you say old man.” He rolled his eyes.

After our little talk he introduced me to some of his friends, some of which I vaguely recognized as old friends who used to come over when we were younger.  I said my hello’s and was on my best behavior, especially when I noticed Greyson side eyeing me every two minutes like I had committed a crime.  Once Nick got distracted talking to one of his buddies I looked at Greyson.

“What's your deal today, and what the hell happened to your face?” It came out more accusingly than I initially intended.

“I don't have any deal. And I just fell, I'm fine.” When he gave me the look that I had seen so many times before, telling me that he didn't want to talk to me. I walked off, figuring I would go explore on my own before Nick dragged me into his stupid conversation or Greyson dragged me into his grumpiness. Part of me knew Greyson was lying but another, stronger part of me told me to leave it for now.

As I was walking I heard someone calling my name.

“Ivy! Come over here there’s some people I would like you to meet.” I smiled and began walking over there. Ibiza was certainly more along the company I wanted especially since she wasn't being grumpy or moody all the time. As I looked around I saw how her group size had increased by quite a bit.

The meet was held at an old abandoned factory with a huge parking lot. When I questioned Nick about it when he first told me the address he said it was just so they could avoid cops and public attention, which to me made perfect sense. If only I knew the real reason behind all the secrecy maybe I would have made different decisions.
