1984

The sound of the sea crashing together as the horizon of the sun setting slightly blinding me. My mother and I have just moved from New York. We're finally on the road back to Reseda, Los Angeles. No more loud cars, trains and crowdy sidewalks but just the salty air filling my lungs.

It was good to be back.

"Are you excited Y/N? To be back at Reseda? I know I'm excited!" my mom said ecstatically, interrupting my daydreaming. I looked at her and smiled.

"I guess I am...I'm kind of nervous." I spoke in a low tone. The butterflies in my stomach were so strong, I wanted to puke. But I wanted laugh too. I was so happy but also an extreme nervous train wreck.

"Haha, don't be! All your friends are going to be there and you'll be the most popular girl in town," My mom exclaimed. "The prettiest too!" She said leaning closer to me with a smirk, making me giggle.

"Oh stop, I'm surely not the prettiest!" I protested, slightly giggling and returning my gaze back to the window.

...

"Did you get everything from the car? The dishes, the clothes?" My mother asked, scrambling through the living room of our apartment in Reseda. We were never rich, nor poor, but had enough to get by in Los Angeles.

"Yep, every last bit of it," I stopped for a moment. "I think I'm going to head to my room. Wouldn't want to miss school for tomorrow." I told her, making my stomach churn at the word...

School.

That word was enough to make me shiver. And soon enough I decided, since I knew the place, why shouldn't I go to the beach? Things are moving pretty fast, I need some time to think.

I placed my bags down and looked through the other bags of clothes, finding the only one piece F/C bathing suit and swimming shorts I owned. I took some extra time to look for a jacket too, it was pretty windy when we got here.

I quickly changed not wasting a second, speed walking out of my room once I was done and kissed my mother on the cheek.
"Where are you going? Who gave you permission to go?!" My mother said rather astonished, I usually tell her where I'm going. making me slowly turn away from the door and face her with an awkward smile.

"I'm just taking a quick trip to the beach, ma, could I go please?" I begged her, giving her puppy eyes, knowing she can't say no to that.

"Yeah," She sighed, shaking her head and laughing. "Go ahead, but no boys. At your age, they're just a waste of time." She shoo'd me away before going back to decorating the house.

"No boys, I promise you!" I shouted while leaving the apartment, making sure to lock it after me.

Walking down to the bike area, my old rusty bike sat as I unchained it, it looked useless and old but it worked just fine, plus I like it the way it is, I wouldn't change a thing.
I hopped on and began cycling to the beach, excited to go for a swim.

...

The wind blew through my hair, sending good-feeling chills down my spine. It was really good to be back. I missed this so much, everything about it was amazing.
