- Are you sure about this?

-yes.

The young woman takes the young mans hand and squeezes it in reassurance. They start to take small steps towards the metal gate, a simple gate with no patterns whatsoever. He pushes it open with a hand and leads the way to the front door a few steps ahead. In front of them is a huge red door with no pattern whatsoever. The house has a no pattern theme all together, nothing special or outstanding about it, butin a way it is the blandness of the house that makes it very interesting. The woman thinks about the many rows of houses they passed by on the way and the intricate designs and protruding gardens they had with beautiful chimneys flattering the skyline and she looks at the roof of the house with its bland bricks and feels a sense of discomfort. The man not so much. He feels the familiarity of the blandness and he knocks on the door.

- It will be fine. I am sure she will love me.

He nods in agreement and breaks into a little smile.

- even if she doesn't she won't remember after a while.

She scofs and she too is smiling, she taps him on the shoulder a little in protest at the ugly joke, she is about to reply and the door opens. They are greeted with an older woman, grey hair a few fine lines and clear skin, she smiles at them sadly and ushers them in.

-I am glad that you came Martin, she was acting rather strangely these past few days.

- More than usual?

- Different than usual. She... floats around sometimes.

The older woman has wide eyes, a horrified look painted on her face and her voice shakes as she says it. As if she is begging him to make a good decision.
Martin runs his hands on his hair and looks at his girlfriend. His girlfriend nods and puts her hand on his shoulder.

-We can do this another day if you want. I can wait.

-No, no. Waiting is not the right choice Anna. I think you should meet her before she gets worse, then tonight I can start looking for a good retirement home.

The older woman looks between the two of them and scrunches her eyebrows.

- you do not understand Martin, she is floating, she does very out of character things, she is scary and sometimes even dangerous. Just the other day she tried to burn the cat.

-That sounds horrible, that is why we should move her where professionals can take care of her.

- Martin! Can you not hear what I am saying? She is more different than her usual self. She is...

-Mrs. Crowl is that not what dementia does to someone?

-Yes but-

- Then it is settled. We are both tired, we travelled all the way from Germany by car and I do not want to think about this with a tired brain. You can come by tomorrow and I will have a list of places we can start looking into. But now, Anna wants to sit down and I want to sit down, and we both want to eat something. I will cook so you dont need to worry about that you can go home and rest as well. Thank you for today Mrs. Crowl.

Mrs Crowl cant argue as she is directed to the other side of the door, Martin quickly shuts the door in her face and sighs.

-Why did you do that?

-Because I can.

Anna can't say anything. at that moment she has no energy to. She also sighs and gives him a hug. The woman outside is still speaking from the other side.

- Martin! ... you do not understand... please... listen to what I am saying... she was speaking in tongues! She was saying things that she would never say and she was lev-

-go home Mrs crowl!

Martin takes Annas hand and leads her upstairs ignoring the cries of an old lady for another. Its his grandmothers voice calling out but ...it is not his name.
