“Wake up!”
Seeing through my slitted eyelids, someone shook my arm. “Come on, it's next period” The voice said.
I lifted my head up from my desk, my head feeling a bit lightheaded. I looked around the room. I yawned.
Everyone's gone.
“Come on, we going to be late” The figure called out from afar.
I quickly packed up my things and got up. Still feeling tired, I shuffled out of the classroom. The sun stared at me with an intense glare, letting me cover my eyes with my hand. My eyes were barely open.
“Let's go before we get in trouble” The voice said outside the doorway.
I nodded as I tried to focus my eyes on the scenery. I stared at the figure.
Not a figure, but a boy. He held his bag by the one strap, over his untucked shirt and tie. His dark messy hair not styled in any particular way, just out of his eyesight.
I yawned and started to walk. He walked right next to me as we made our way to the next class.
“Didn't get enough sleep last night?” He asked, passing through the other students. I nodded, not wanting to talk much.
..but..
“Had a lucid dream” I muttered, feeling the energy drained even from talking. I yawned again.
Now that I think about it, I should get an opinion...
He looked at me, like I was a stop sign in the middle of the highway. He looked back ahead, letting the words sink in. I yawned again.
Maybe telling him was a mistake, I thought again. Maybe I should've kept my mouth shut..
“A lucid dream?” He said.
I nodded slowly.
Another pause.
We started up the stairs, one of three flights.
I stared at the wooden planks, dragging my feet along, waiting his response..
“What you dream about?” He asked but just as fast answered it with another question:
“You dream about her?”
The question came as a shock but I didn't show my reaction, so I nodded slowly again. We got to the next flight of stairs.
Is it that obvious? I thought. I sighed.
The children started to disappear into classrooms the more we walked.
Now it was only the two of us, his voice echoing through the hallways.
It's weird. People normally forget their dreams but I remember mine clearly. Like it was a memory that I keep remembering..
“How'd you know it was a dream?” He asked. He turned to me. “What made you realise it was a dream?”
I stared at him, thinking to myself.
“I don't know” I said, keeping my eyes at my feet, not letting him see through my lies.
Another silence..
He looked back ahead, nodding to himself. “She's just a human being” He said, like it was simple as that. He turned left and looked over at me. “She's a girl”
I wanted to tell him about the dream but I refuse to..
“Easier said than done” I said, not pulling back the coldness in my voice.
