first steps

Neo Domino City and the old Satellite finally connected to each other after 17 years through the efforts of Yusei and the others. It's been a few weeks since they defeated the Dark Signers, and now, you live together with the three boys. You were childhood friends with them from the orphanage and knew how to duel – skilled enough to protect yourself at least.

Now living with your close friends; Yusei and Crow work while Jack, being the arrogant guy he is and still enjoying his former lifestyle, is unemployed, while you plan to work two jobs to help support the four of you. Both Yusei and Crow talked with you about working and Crow persuading you to focus on pursuing to study instead since you've been wanting to do that for a long time and Yusei agreeing with him, but you convinced them that you working would be much better because you can save money and help with the house at the same time. The two of them finally agreed and with Jack, who just arrived, nodding as well before getting scolded by Crow who told him to look for a job instead.

After a few days of looking for a job, you finally got accepted; One was to work in the library where you'll be the assistant librarian in day time, while you also got accepted as a janitress in the Neo Domino hospital every weekend night.

"..and that's how it is." You explained to the three of them while they sat on the sofa and you standing with arms on your waist, "I will be starting next week so that you guys know."

"Oooh, two jobs!" Crow exclaimed. "Can you handle two jobs at once, (Name)?" Yusei asked, his usual straight tone can be heard. You nodded in response, "Of course! I'll also try to ask them if it's okay if Jack can work there too!"

"Well that's one generous girl," Crow said, looking at the said man beside him, "Jack you better accept that job offer, ya hear?!" Offended by Crow's tone, Jack quickly retorted, "You! Why would you think that I, Jack, would refuse such a generous offer?!", and then the two started to banter.

Yusei ignored the two, used on their usual banter. "(Name), if you'd like, I can give you rides on your work whenever I can." You quickly shook your head from his offer, feeling that you'll end up disturbing him if he ever did, "No! It's okay!" you retorted, "I can just take the bus for my hospital shift and besides, my weekday work is just a walking distance."

"But still, it's dangerous if you're going out at night." Yusei answered as you could hear the worry laces on his tone, "You finish that shift in the middle of the night, right?". He looked at you straight and saw you fidgeting in your position, with a small smile appearing in his lips, he continued, "I'm giving you a ride there on your night shift and that's it." You were going to protest until Yusei quickly added, "–No objections, (Name)."

"I–", you started as Yusei quickly shot you a look that says don't. Sighing in defeat, you took his offer. "Alright, but I'll be paying for the gas." Yusei chuckled from your response before ruffling your hair, "I really can't win against your stubborn attitude, huh?"
