The Final Campaign (Byler)

Prologue: we lost

Mikes pov:
we lost . I thought we would have won this time but this time we lost and it feels different. We're all trying to process the fact that we lost "what the hell!?" hopper said "i thought i killed vecna but i guess he won when he put max in that coma" el said
"And now that this portal is here anything from the upside-down can come through here and our world is connected to the upside-down now" i said walking towards el. I looked at Will
and he was just standing there with fear running through his body "and i need to protect will again because we might have to fight the mind-flayer again. Who knows if it died?" I said my eyes were still on will.

Wills pov:
"i can protect myself mike i don't need you or anyone else to protect me" i said mike is always trying to protect me i can look after myself now "will you don't know that for sure besides we need to-" mike got cut off by demo-dogs and demogorgon's screaming "MOVE MOVE MOVE BACK TO THE CABIN" hopper yelled we all ran back to the cabin hopper was the last one to get in the cabin he locked the door "get away from the windows now" mom said i can hear the fear in her voice. "I know your scared mom we all are but that's what vecna wants he wants us to run and hide in fear" I start to stand on the table so everyone can see me "well I say no more I say we make vecna scared of us let's show him what we can do together as a team"
"Will's right mike says "we can't just stand here and let him think he won vecna already took too many lives. How many more are dead till we fight back? we need to find his weakness and fast" me and Mike lock eyes on each other before i jump off the table.

Mikes Pov:
"Hey can we talk?" I asked Will, "sure come on" we go outside "alright mike what's up?" will ask me "well i gotta ask did el really ask you to draw the painting? i've been stressing about it ever since we came back from california and please don't lie to me i want the truth" will was looking at me confused then shocked "ok fine el did ask me to paint that dnd painting ok? Stop asking about it"
"ok fine i'll stop asking"

i pulled him into a hug a real one not like the lame-ass hug i gave him at the airport will hugged me back "let's go inside we can't stay out here too long" i said then we both went inside the house. I went to the guest room hopper was letting me sleep at i went to the bathroom and changed into pj's and to bed.

Wills pov:
Did mike just hug me? Wow he finally gave me a real hug and not a side hug like he did in the airport I get ready for bed and go to sleep

The next day ...

Mikes Pov:
I get dressed then I walk downstairs and see el already up eating eggos she loves eggos she sees me and smiles at me "hey mike" she says before I can reply there were sirens going off we knew what that means THE WAR IS JUST BEGINNING.
