Alice POV
I wake up to a loud noise coming from the living room. I got up and looked around the room and realized that Emily, Charlotte and I were the only ones left in the room. Emily is awake, and seems like she has just woken up as well. Emily and I rush into the living room, when we see what's going on, it's heartbreaking. Evelyn is no where to be found and Riley is crying out for her best friend. Olivia is trying to comfort her, just as Emily was trying to do with me when I first got here.
"Oh God", Emily cries out.
"She's in god's hands now, where ever she is she's in a better place" Oliva says, almost whispering it.
Riley keeps crying and crying. I've been standing in the same exact spot for a hour now. I'm in shock, I barley knew Evelyn but I did know that she was now my sister, all of our sisters.
Charlotte came out from the bedroom after about an hour, we had to tell her. She was just as shocked as I was but no ones reaction was as bad as Rileys.
Once she was done crying with us, Riley spent the rest of the day in her bed. Half sleep, half crying, half mourning. I felt horrible for her but I didn't know how to help her. I just keep thinking about my best friend at school, I did everything with Leah. I would want to die if anything had happened to her.
It was around lunch time when one of us finally spoke. It was Olivia to me.
"So where are you from anyways?" She asks
"Texas" I say
"Huh interesting, I'm from Maryland. And I think Emily once said she was from New York" Olivia says.
"So he hunts in different states" I say. " So there is no way to know exactly where we are, I just always assumed we were still in Maryland".
"Yeah it's just easy to assume that we are still where we were taken but that doesn't make sense if we were taken from all over" Emily says pipping into our conversation.
"Can I ask how you were taken?" I say
"You can ask. I was with my best friend and her sister. Her sister was babysitting us, my mom had just gotten sick and my dad was dead so there was no one to watch me. I was staying at Brookes house. Her parents were out so yeah her sister was watching me, and not doing a good job at it. She didn't really like me, I've never know why. Brooke and I thought we should play hide and seek, her sister also wanted to play since she was bored. It was Brookes sisters turn when Brooke and I heard the ice cream truck so we decided to go outside and get some while she was counting. I ran out and asked to for a frozen Lolly. The ice cream man said that he had some in the back. And invited me inside. Brooke was still putting her shoes on the porch. I went into the truck with him to get the treat. But then all I saw was the man driving and Brooke chasing down the street crying and shouting. I was groggy so I don't remember much, but the last thing I remember was Brookes face". Olivia says, without one emotion.
"Wow that must be hard. You don't even know what happened to your mother. Or Brooke" I say.
Olivia breaks down crying. Crying her eyes out.
"I don't even know about my mother", she cried.
"Oh god I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to make you cry" I say trying to comfort her.
"It's okay. I should get used to it. I've told the story 100 times, but it never gets easier" Olivia says, as she starts to calm down.
The rest of the day I just tried to avoid talking to anyone. I read a book, and once it started getting late, I decided to go to bed since everyone but Emily was already.
"Goodnight Emily" I say as I walk toward the bedroom door.
"I feel things changing.. I can't explain it but I don't like it" she says as the stares at nothing.
"I don't understand" I say.
"Evelyn says she wants to disappear, and she does. Last week Olivia asked me about if we were going to get anyone new, and you showed up 3 days later. He's been giving us double what we have been asking for on the list, and the vibes feel off in here. I don't know if I'm going crazy, or if some thing is about to happen" Emily says.
"Umm, I don't know what to say. I've been here for a couple days now and nothing seems normal down here. Those could of been just flukes. And maybe he's become generous with the food. I don't know and neither do you. You should try and get some sleep", I say as I walk into the bedroom. I'm trying to get what Emily just said out of my mind.
Everyone in the bedroom is sound asleep. So it's easy to jump into bed and let sleep take over.
I let it take over my entire body, I try not to think and just let myself fall into a sleep trance.
