Jesse wasn't sure where he would be if he were even in here at all. But still, she withdrew the dagger, preparing for anything that might be thrown her way. From what she knew of Herobrine, he wouldn't make this easy for her. Anything but easy. She continued down the hall as she felt the heat rising both mentally and physically.
I know you're there Jesse...

She froze in place. Hearing that voice made her sick to the stomach. Jesse tightened her grip on the sword.

There's no use trying to hide...

She spun around, almost positive that was where the voice came from, only to see no one there. Jesse looked all around, desperate to find where he was.

"You're the one hiding. Show yourself, you coward." Jesse spat, trying to hide the fear in her voice.

Laughter filled the halls. It swarmed all around her, coming in all different directions. Jesse hated how Herobrine was playing with her like this. A few seconds later, a bright flash appeared in the center of the room. Jesse shielded her eyes from the blinding light, squinting to see the cause of this. Only then did she see the evil being before her.

"Better?" He taunted, still floating several feet above her.

A scowl formed on Jesse's face. Here he was, acting all strong and mighty. She couldn't wait to put him in his place. It was about time someone did.

"Why are you doing this? What is there for you to gain?" Jesse's voice broke.

"Justice for myself — for the betrayal of my own blood." He spoke, each word clear yet powerful.

"This isn't justice," Jesse scoffs bitterly. "Justice is supposed to be fair, not something you hand out because you're angry. You want vengeance."

"Call it what you will," he dismisses her reasoning. "The deed has been done. Now she must pay the consequences."

He must be referring to Alex, Jesse figured.

Her grip tightened on the dagger. "Please." That was all she could get out.

Herobrine's gaze remained emotionless. He didn't care about Jesse's people. Why should he?

"I'll make this quick." He raised a hand.

"Me too," Jesse whispered in a single breath.

The time following seemed to pass in slow motion. Jesse's hand shook, too afraid of the dagger getting away. Heat radiated all over her body, as the sweat fell across her face, tracing the shape of her brow. She leaped forward, wielding the dagger behind her. Her life flashed before her eyes as one final tear escaped from the corner of her eye. She only saw a bright flash before feeling a sharp pain on her left side.

"Is it done? Are we dead?" Jesse thought to herself.

Her heavy eyes lifted ever so slowly.

"I'm afraid not, my dear."

At this moment, her heart practically stopped beating. Hearing his voice made her want to scream. Scream so loudly that the whole world could hear her. But she couldn't even do that. Every bit of energy that she once had was gone. Jesse's fight was over. She could already imagine what her friends would be saying.

"Jesse never gives up!" or "You're gonna die that easily?"

Am I really gonna let myself die like this? Something burned inside her core. A fire was igniting again. That flame had always been inside her. Hell, it never left. Her fingers tensed. She lifted her head from the ground and used every last ounce of strength to push herself up.
