The story begins with Aiz Wallenstein speaking with Loki, and the Loki Familia executives, about Bell Cranel achieving Level 5. They talked for about a hour until they heard a knock at the door, Riveria opened the door to see no one, or at least, not until she looked down, and her eyes widened in utter shock.
"H-How?" Riveria asked hesitantly.
"What's the problem, Mama?" Loki questioned.
Riveria moved away from the door, and everyone's eyes widened, especially Aiz. Who could blame her, after all, it's not everyday you see your past-self from 7 years ago.
"What? But how is that possible?!" The much older Aiz questioned.
Unfortunately, before she could be given an answer, Bell came crashing in through the window and hitting a pillar. He quickly got up, and readied himself, as another Aiz, attacked him, this one was very different, she wore all purple and black, and possessed a black great-sword. Everyone watched as Bell's knife changed into a great-sword, and clashed with the other Aiz.
There was a sense of hesitation emanating from Bell's eyes, as he also gritted his teeth in frustration, but after a few moments, his hesitation, and frustration disappeared, and his expression and aura became calm. "I don't know who you are, but you are not the Aiz I know. Now, who are you, what are you, and where did you come from?" Bell questioned.
"...... I am Aiz Wallenstein, Spirit of Destruction, and the true personification of "her" hatred, and sorrow. An Alter or Inversion, if you will." She answered.
"I see, then why are you attacking me?" Bell asked.
"Because you are the only person that can save her from me, if you can't defeat me, then you'll never be able to save her from this fate." She responded, after a moment, her eyes widened, when she saw the rabbit, her rabbit, confidently smile.
"I understand." Bell said, as he parried, and kicked the Alter in the gut, knocking her away.
The alter looked back at the rabbit, as he laid his weapon to his side, and witnessed it once more, his pure white eyes, fueled with absolute resolve. A wave of nostalgia hit the alter, remembering the last time she had seen his eyes.
"Alter." Bell called grabbing her attention. "I swear to my dying breath, I will save you." Bell stated, as he grinned.
'Save me...' The Aiz's thought in unison.
Bell's determined expression was witnessed by the young Aiz, as she was left in confusion, she looked into the eyes of her older self, and had noticed that the black flames had diminished by a large amount.
"Hey, older me?" L'il Aiz called while pulling on her skirt.
"Yes." Aiz responded, not taking her eyes off Bell.
"The flame, it isn't burning as intensely as before, does he have something to do with it?" The little girl asked, as Riveria placed a hand on her head.
"Yes, thanks to Bell Cranel, you've become far more calmer than before. His light was able to reach you, as he's guided you through that dark place, and I have no doubt, that he will be the one to cleanse your black flame." Riveria answered.
"Alter, you've waited for your hero to arrive, the hero that would save you." Bell said, as white flames flowed, surrounding his body and weapon. "Let's go, Sword Princess!" Bell exclaimed excitedly, as the both readied themselves to attack.
Alter charged in and swung his blade, as Bell counter attacked, clashing his sword with hers, as Alter's black winds clashed with Bell's white flames. Bell knew if they continued to clash, it would leave Orario in ruins, and so, he did the unthinkable. They swung their blades, and clashed once more, the only difference being, that the force of their attacks was negated. Alter's eyes widened, as Bell grinned. They continued to clash, ending with the same outcome. Even the Loki Familia was left confused, the first time they clashed the large quantity of energy was released, now there was nothing.
"What did you do." Alter asked.
"Simple, I matched my magic output with yours, and by striking at the same speed, and with the same amount of force, I'm able to completely negate our power. Turning this into a battle of raw skill, than power." Bell explained, causing everyone to become wide eyed.
"You do remember that I out class you in experience?" The alter questioned, to which Bell grinned.
"You're right, you do have more experience... When it comes to fighting monsters that is, but what about fighting another person." Bell stated, causing Alter to finally understand her grave error. "When it comes to fighting people, I outclass you in experience. The Soma Familia, Apollo, Raika, Evilus, Ishtar, Freya, even the Loki Familia, I have fought every last one of you. Now tell me, who's the one with more experience."
Riveria smiled, finally understanding what Bell meant. "He's right, Bell Cranel has far more experience fighting adventurers than Aiz does, not to mention, his analytic abilities allowed him to better adapt to who he's fighting, and seeing how Aiz was his mentor, it's safe to say he has completely analyzed and memorized, all of her abilities and techniques." She commented.
"Show me what you can do, Sword Princess." Bell said.
They continued to clash once again, but it was obvious that Alter was losing ground, Bell then finally decided to stop holding back. He parried Alter's attack, and immediately stuck her superior plexus with the end of his hilt, forcing her to drop her weapon, and bringing her to her knees. While Bell neared his blade to her neck.
"It's over, you lost." Bell said. While Alter only looked down in defeat.
"Indeed, I yield." Alter agreed.
Bell proceeded take his weapon away from her neck, as it turned back to its knife form, and sheathed it. Bell's once confident expression, turned to a warm and loving one, as he knelt down, and embraced the alter, placing her in a state of shock, while tear ran down her face.
