The red wire

Vox POV

My senses were slowly coming back. I slept really well this night. I opened my eyes just to see Shoto. He was pressing his head against my chest and his arms were wrapped around me. Cute. I was also cuddling him and one of my legs was laying on top of his. Should I wake him? Nah he deserved some sleep and rest. Man, why was it always humans that I fell for? Why was it always someone who would die one day? Well, he could probably live longer thanks to his magic, but he would get older, weaker and would also die. That would be even more painful. I should just be happy that he finally accepted that he needed my help. He hasn't admitted it yet, but his actions said more than words. I should sleep again or at least try. I closed my eyes and Shoto nuzzled onto my chest a bit more. Aww what a sweet boy. My sweet boy? Yeah. My sweet boy.

Shoto POV

I slowly woke up. It was soft, warm and really nice. Wait. I felt some strong arms wrapped around me. No... I didn't, right? God... I asked the demon to sleep next to me... AND HE DID IT! Man, this really was a shame. I liked someone who I once promised to kill even though it was wrong, I let him comfort me, I kept him awake and I even slept in the same bed as him. Oh, shit he was still hugging me tightly. Was he even aware of this? Probably not. I carefully lifted his arm and got out of bed. God he still looked handsome even though he was sleeping. Was it creepy to think that? Well, he wouldn't know, would he? Nah he wouldn't. But I should stop staring at him because that really was weird. As I turned away, I heard a groan.

Vox POV

I slowly woke up again because of the sudden loss of warmth. Did Shoto stand up? I groaned while opening my eyes and stretching my back. I looked over to the right where Shoto was standing. "Good morning, dear." He blushed a bit which surprised me. Was he still flustered just because I called him that? Man, he probably wasn't used to this kind of stuff. He would be soon because I always called the people I loved like that. "Um... m-morning... Vox." Aww he really used my name now that was nice. I smiled at him before standing up and walking to the bathroom. As I looked back, I could see that Shoto didn't move. Was he really that flustered? I chuckled before entering the other room to get ready for another day. Hopefully something new would happen today.

 Shoto POV

He smiled before walking over to the bathroom door. God his smile was so nice. I didn't dare to move before I heard a little chuckle and the door closing. I exhaled, releasing all the air that I had held in. He seemed to like it when I called him by his name. Well, who wouldn't that was nothing special it was normal to use someone's name. But I had called him demon for the first days. Why the fuck did I need the help of a demon to realize my mistakes? The help of someone who I wanted to kill. Well not anymore. He was way too nice and caring and even if he just pretended, he was still very good at comforting. But he wasn't pretending. I could feel that. 

I decided to make breakfast since he had already made some for me once. I found some bacon and eggs in the fridge so I would cook that. Vox walked out of the bathroom right as I finished. I quickly put everything on plates, put them on the table and sat down. I stared down not really expecting Vox to also sit down. But he did. "Aww you made breakfast. Thank you, pup." Pup? That one was new. Man, how many names could he think of? Shit. Was I really blushing? AGAIN??? But I could feel that it wasn't as much as usually. I was probably getting used to the names by now. Well, I did kind of like it... I looked up just to see the demon who was already stuffing some bacon in his mouth. I also started to eat. I did a pretty good job and it tasted pretty good. "This is really nice boy you did a great job."

Vox POV

Shoto seemed to nearly choke after hearing my praise. Woah, I didn't think he would take it that serious. He caught his breath again still coughing a bit. "T-Thank you." I guess he wasn't used to someone saying that he did well. After we both finished, I stood up to wash the dishes. I thought it would be just like yesterday until I heard Ley's voice. "Hello guys. I hope you got used to everything by now. I have a new task for you." Oh, great another task.

"If you two could walk over to the living room area please I will tell you what you must do." Shoto and I followed her order and walked over to where we were supposed to go to. "So, as you can see there's a box on the table. It's a bomb." TF?! A BOMB?! Ok yeah, she was trying to kill us. Well, I wouldn't die but Shoto would for sure. "No worries though you can defuse it, and no one should get hurt."

Shoto POV

And no one should get hurt. Man, why was it always me? "One of you guys has to read the instructions to the other one and said other one will follow them. If you do it on time the bomb won't blow up so good luck." Ley's voice vanished, leaving us alone with the bomb and instructions on how to solve it. We just stood there for a moment before noticing the timer which showed that we had only 4 minutes and 50 seconds left. Oh, shit this was serious. I quickly grabbed the small book which was the instructions. "What can you see Vox? It says that there should be multiple riddles to solve." Vox looked at the bomb, observing it from every side. "I can see some colored buttons, wires, and symbols. Let's go for the buttons first." I went trough all of the pages until I found the one with the buttons.

After explaining the buttons and symbols we finally went for the wires with 1 minute and 20 seconds left. "Ok how many wires are there?" I was already reading everything without really listening to Vox. "What?" It was really obvious that I didn't listen. "Three wires, one red and two white bruh!" Man, someone was being salty. "What? What color is the red wire?" No... I didn't just say that did I? "IT'S RED! WHO'S BRAIN ARE YOU IN RIGHT NOW???"

Vox POV

He really did ask what color the red wire was. Man, he was sweet, but he also had his moments. Oh, shit only 40 seconds left. He also seemed to notice because he panickily searched for the right thing to do. "Ok you have to cut the last wire." I did as he told me to, and the timer stopped. "We did it!" I turned to Shoto and saw a slight sign of relief on his face. Well, he was probably glad he didn't die. Even though Ley would probably stop this before anything like that could happen. "Oh, you guys did it. Congratulations. And no, I wouldn't let you die to a bomb it would just take away some of your space. If you didn't manage to solve it, I would have probably taken away the living room area or something, but you did it so no consequences." I knew it.

The day went on normal and Shoto was finally talking to me like I was a person. I had learned some things about him. Nothing special though. His favorite color was purple which was already pretty obvious, and he liked music that was a mix of English and other languages like Asian ones. He didn't say anything about the nightmares, and I didn't ask because I didn't want to remind him. We talked for a pretty long time, and I had much to tell about all the years I had already lived. I didn't mention my immortality though. It was too soon for him to know that.

We both got sleepy and got ready for bed. He wanted to sleep on the couch again, but I convinced him to sleep beside me, so I was near him if he had anymore nightmares. He refused at first but as he realized that I would just have to stand up to comfort him he finally agreed. I waited for a few minutes until I was sure he was asleep before putting my arms around his waist, pulling him towards me and slightly kissing the back of his head. Nah he wouldn't have nightmares tonight I was pretty sure about that.

I actually wanted to upload sooner but I was gone for the weekend, and I just tested positive yesterday, so I had to rest a bit. I hope you liked this chapter, and I am so happy that these two are finally getting along.
