Bill nervously sat on the leather sofa, using his reflection in the glass of the "receptionist's" window to check his graying hair. He was already sweating, and his glasses slid down his nose repeatedly. He felt like the world's biggest nerd every time he used his index finger to push them back up to their place on the permanent imprints they had left on each side of the bridge of his nose.
It was his first time for the sort of interview he was about to experience. He knew the outcome wasn't going to profoundly change his life. There were other places like this. Still, there was something about the proprietor of this establishment that had gotten his immediate attention and then took residence in his head for the last several weeks. When he finally screwed up the courage to fill out the online application, he tried not to let himself feel overly hopeful. There had to be dozens of other applicants.
He had been at his desk at work when his assistant buzzed his phone and told him that there was a call for him from LF, LLC and asked if he would like to take it. He had to suppress the excitement in his voice before confirming he would take the call. The call itself was rather uneventful. When could he fit an interview into his schedule and a confirmation of his appointment.
Now here he sat, waiting for his turn in the hot seat. He tried to do some work on his laptop, but it was a lost cause. His mind wouldn't cooperate, so he spent the time trying to think of safewords that seemed witty or showed he had intelligence. Nothing he thought of sounded like either.
"Miss Sanguine is ready for you, sir." The receptionist's voice made him jump a little in his seat.
He stood up and thanked her then stood at the black door waiting.
The receptionist watched him standing there for several moments then said, "It's unlocked, Mr. Richman."
Once again feeling like a total ass, Bill took a deep breath, opened the door, and stepped into a world he had only fantasized about.
A strip of vermilion carpet divided the two sides of the room lengthwise and led to a masterfully carved ebony throne sitting on a dais of brilliant white marble. To each side of the carpet were several evenly spaced columns that appeared to have been chiseled from some red-flecked black stone. The walls of the room looked to be made of stonework that could be found in any of a hundred medieval castles. Various racks, tools, tables, and delightful implements lined the walls. Seeing all of this, Bill felt like a child in Candy Land.
He was still taking it all in when he heard an imperious voice address him from the far side of the room.
"You may approach, Mr. Richman."
Bill turned to the voice and saw her perched on her throne. "Omg, it's Stacy Sanguine", he thought to himself. He was giddy. He was also a little shocked at her clothing. In all of the website pictures, she dressed in latex, leather, and sometimes lace. On the throne sat a woman who appeared ready for a trip to the gym. Only her brilliant red hair convinced him that it was her. He decided he really didn't care what she was wearing, and finally managed to stammer, "Uh, am I supposed to kneel? Umm crawl?"
Miss Sanguine smiled and chuckled softly then said, "Whatever you feel is appropriate. This is just an interview after all."
Interview or not, Bill had been dreaming of being on his knees before this woman. He quickly dropped to all fours and began making his way toward her.
