"I've never seen him so happy," Sansa said from where she sat at the head table, a sad smile gracing her lips. Tyrion, who stood near gathering himself a glass of wine replied
"I agree. It's almost a shame he's been spoken for by our dear Queen. They do make a lovely match."
"I want him to have love," Sansa said in a quiet voice as she glanced to her friend "but look at where love got Rob. I don't want him to fall upon the same fate."
"The marriage between Daenerys and Jon will unite the realms for generations. Even an idiot like your brother knows that." Sansa would have snickered if she didn't have her doubts; she knew the Stark men had a history of acting foolish. The two kept their gaze on the dancing pair, watching as they spun and laughed and swayed together.
In light of their recent victory against the White Walkers those residing within the walls of Winterfell erupted into a celebration, Jon and y/n included. Y/n was well aware of Jons betrothal to Daenerys but that wouldn't stop her nor Jon from feeling the way they felt. Even while Daenary's eye's burned holes in the back of her skull it didn't stop her from leaning into Jon as he placed his hand on her waist, their dance continuing on as the music did so.
Daenary's took a seat next to Sansa and with a stiff jaw she said
"What is he doing."
"Dancing, Your majesty." Tyrion answered plainly and the Queen shot him a look.
"You know what I mean. Is he always this foolish? What will the people think?"
"The people already know," Sansa said "you may be here now, but y/n has been here since the beginning. We all grew up together."
"History does not matter. I thought Jon understood that." Sansa couldn't help but smile at the Queen's jealousy but she didn't dare let her get a glimpse of her pleasure.
"Y'know, i've never seen Jon dance before." Sansa stated and Tyrion chuckled
"If you call that dancing. He is better gifted on the battlefield then he is the dance floor."
"Thank God for that," Sansa said as her and Tyrion clinked their glasses together. Daenary's didn't find this the slightest bit amusing, she glared at Tyrion who set his glass down and sighed.
"You still have Cersei to deal with, therefore your marriage and status isn't even threatened at this moment. You are not yet married."
"It's a matter of respect."
"My Queen, we have just won a war, and you are moments from tossing them back into another. Let them have this time. It hurts no one." She knew he wasn't wrong, but she couldn't help the uncomfortable knot that twisted in her stomach as she watched the pair. She would have to talk to Jon about this later on, for they had an image to maintain, and he had made a promise to her which she hoped he intended to keep.
"Are you happy, Jon?" Y/N asked as she looked up at Jon's gleaming smile.
"How can I not be?" He answered, "we won the war, we live another day, and I am here with the most beautiful woman in all the world." his answer brought a smile to Y/Ns lips, but her eyes had a hint of sorrow. She took Jon's hands within hers and began leading him from the crowd and lingering eyes. He followed without a protest, tripping on his feet a bit as he stumbled behind her. In the dimly lit hallway, he felt the liquor began to hit him.
"Slow down," he said as his vision spun a bit. She looked back to him and snickered
"Are you feeling alright, my King?" Jon laughed as he placed his hand against the wall to steady himself
"We both know I am no King to you."
"You're about to be King of all the realms, it's something I'll soon have to become accustomed to." Her words made him tense as he said
"You know I don't want to be King."
"Didn't want to be King of the North either," she said softly as she took a step closer to him. He watched her attentively in the dimly lit hall and once she was close enough to touch he gently moved a strand of hair from her face. She placed her hands against his armored chest and said "you were born for greatness." Even in a whisper it still made Jon shiver with anxiety
"Careful what you say," he whispered back as he looked down the halls. Y/N knew his secret. About how he was truly no bastard at all, but the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. He leaned down close to her, their noses brushing against one another's. "She will kill you." Y/N rolled her eyes and pushed back from Jon, continuing her travels away from the party
"She will kill me just for being in love with you." Her words left Jon silent for a moment as he stood there, watching her walk off. He knew deep down that there was truth to that, and he had to admit it was something he was growing to fear more and more every day the closer Daenary's got to the Iron Throne. He took once glance back at the mess halls doors before he went after Y/N. He found her in her chambers where she stood by the window, looking at the charred grounds below. As she heard Jon enter without any stealth to his actions she said
"Jon, I am afraid for the future." He halted at the door, stunned by her words. He's never heard her admit fear to anything.
"Y/N, what do you have to fear?" With tears spilling her eyes she looked to him and said
"I fear losing you." He looked at her with sorrow before he crossed the distance between them in order to embrace her tightly.
"I am not going anywhere."
"That is a lie. Don't lie to me Jon Snow." She glared up at him and he held her face in both his hands as he said softly
"I would never lie to you. I love you," he leaned down and kissed her gently. It had only meant to be a sweet gesture but with Y/n's anxiety burning in her belly she tugged him close again, crashing their lips together with a deep desire. Was this the last time she could hold him? Kiss him? As their lips moved together in a heated battle for dominance and need everything came to an abrubt stopped when Sansa pounded at the door and called
"Jon, you're Queen wishes to speak with you. You best hurry." That was the last thing Y/N wanted to hear, in this moment or any other. This is exactly what she had been talking about. Y/N slipped back from Jon slowly, mumbling
"You've been summoned, Jon Snow......" He hated seeing the flash of pain within her eyes. Before she slipped from his grasped fully he embraced her once more in a fevered kiss.
"I will not be long." He stated before he left her alone in the dark, cold room of her chambers. She did not believe that for a moment as the door closed behind him she whispered with a quivereing lip
"Don't lie to me, Jon Snow..."
