 ∞Prologue ∞

"Harry!" Louis called out in a trembling voice as he followed the curly haired boy, who seemed set on  avoiding him completely. "Harry!" he yelled once more, weaving in and out of the crowded bar, growing worried that he might loose sight of the lad. Louis picked up his speed, finally getting within actual distance of the boy before grabbing his forearm and spinning him around to face him.

The green-eyed man growled as Louis enveloped him a hug, squeezing him tight, before pushing the shorter boy away. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" he spat, glaring at the older man in front of him. Louis stood there, confused by the venom in Harry's voice, and gulped. "I-" he took this time to look at Harry. To really look at him.

He's changed so much...Louis thought to himself, giving him a once over before meeting his cold, unwelcoming eyes with his own. The Harry Louis used to know was happy -bubbly, almost. He was never so cold towards him. He was always....Harry. The Harry that stood before him now was...mean. He glared at Louis with so much hatred and malice that if the 'If-looks-could-kill' statement were true, Lou would have already been ten feet under. Pulling those thoughts away from his head, Louis gulped and looked up at him. "-I missed you."

"Yeah." Harry scoffed, laughing bitterly. "Sure you did." he tried continuing on his way before Louis grabbed him again, giving him an incredulous look. "Haz-"

"Don't call me 'Haz'." Harry hissed, sending shivers down Louis' body as he stared at the younger boy in fear.

"Ever."

There was silence as Harry avoided his gaze, wanting nothing more than to leave, intending on doing just that. So he began walking away from him, only to be pulled back once more. "What?!" he hollered, groaning in annoyance. Could Louis just leave him alone?

"What happened to you, Haz?"

Harry stopped trying to break free from the stronger boy's grasp, and looked down at him, his expression blank. What happened to him?

What had happened to him? He asked himself. So many things...like Dylan, for one.

Dylan had happened to him.

"Nothing." he answered in a bored tone, not giving him a second look.

"That's a lie." Louis stated, standing straight in front of Harry so he could look at him. "A-Are you cross with me?" he asked, suddenly extremely worried. "Did I do something?"

Fuck yes, I'm cross with you! Harry wanted to say. You left me! You weren't there when I needed you most!

He wanted to scream and cry and tell him to fuck off.

But he couldn't.

Harry knew that no matter what Louis did -if he forgot about him while on tour, or not- he could never be truly angry with the feathery-haired lad. He loved him, and still did.

But this wasn't about love anymore. This was about keeping him away, so nothing bad happened to him. This was about Dylan never finding out that Lou was back -about keeping Louis safe

No matter how bitchy he had to go about doing it.

"I'm just not in the mood." he answered, rolling his eyes at him like he was a little kid he wanted to get rid of. "Just sod off, okay pop-star?" he said as he released himself, making his way out of the bar and towards his car. He needed to get home before Dylan started wonder and come looking for him.

He hadn't even gotten inside yet, when he heard Louis yelling his name, running up to him.

"Harry," he started when he finally reached him, tears streaming down his face. "please....if I did anything -if you're mad at me- please tell me what it is I did, so I can fix it. So I can make it right." he came closer, staring at Harry with those stunning blue eyes he knew he loved. "I love you, Haz..." he whispered, taking a hold of his hand. "You know I do."

Harry's stared at him as he spoke.

But this wasn't a bored stare, or a stare of hatred and such.

He stared at him with the fondness he always used before Louis went off on tour. Before he became all famous and precious to everyone. Before they broke up.

When they were together.

"I don't want you to be mad at me." he ended, pleading to him with his eyes and blinking away his tears. Harry gave him a sad smile as he lifted Louis' fingertips to his lips, kissing them softly as he stared at his ex. "I love you too, Boo." he whispered, kissing Louis, gently, on the forehead and getting into the front seat of his car, leaving Louis standing there.

Harry gave Louis one final nod before driving off, not bothering to look back. Because he knew that if he did...he would go running back.

He always did.
