I lay on my bed, staring up at the ceiling. "Will I ever get out of here?" I asked to myself quietly. I look over at my door to see the lady who has taken care of me since my mother left me on the door step of this place and drove off not even looking back, Cassady. She gave me a smile, I let out a sigh.
She sat down on my bed I was felt the dip by my waist. "Tomorrow's the day" she said, trying to sound encouraging. "Hmmm" I answered. "Come one Mads" she said, nudging my side. I looked her way. I was always like this. I didn't have friends at the orphanage, I didn't want anyway.
I was one of the only 13 year old girls at the orphanage, but its been like that since day one. "Try and get some rest" she said. I looked over at the clock, it read 9:36 PM. "Goodnight" she said. I roll over as she closes the door. I hop out of my bed and I go and get ready for bed by brushing my teeth and hair and washing my face.
I got dressed into my old over sized shirt and some old tight shorts. I climbed up into bed just as the other 3 girls were as well. 2 of them were 9 and the other was 15. I laid down and pulled the trigger on my lamp covering myself in my orca blanket and removed my glasses.
I closed my eyes as darkness claims me as it does every night. I awoke the next morning at the same time, 7:30 AM.
I got up grabbed onto some blue jeans and a plain black t-shirt and headed into the bathroom. I took a shower, washing my hair.
I then dried off, brushed my teeth, washed my face and I tied my hair into a messy bun. I got dressed and made my bed as I headed down stairs for some breakfast. I grabbed onto some fruit and walked back to my room pulling out a book and reading while eating my blueberries and strawberries.
There was a knock at the door even though it was open. I looked up. It was Cassady. "Come one, I'm not letting you miss another adoption day" she said, leaning up against the door frame. I shook my head. "No one wants a 13 year old child" I say, "No one has wanted me for 10 years". She sighs. "You need to keep trying, don't give up" she answered, "Come on, juts one more time".
I closed the book, pushing my glasses further up on my face. We all are suppose to wait in a room playing games and talking with each other. I don't know really do that, I just sit in the back hiding every time.
A couple walked in and walked up to the front desk. They were the 3rd visitors to walk in that morning. "Good morning" said Cassady. "Morning" said the man. "Here to adopt?" she asked. "Yes ma'am" answered the woman. "Perfect" she answered. Cassady began rummaging through some files sorted neatly on shelves. "Any specific gender, age..." she trailed off. "A girl, over 10" answered the woman. Cassady smiled hoping this would be my chance. "Well" she started, "I have about 6 files I can provide you with".
The young woman smiled. "That would be lovely" she answered. Cassady handed her the files and her nd her husband sat down on one of the benches by the door. They pulled them open and began skimming through reading the information. "This ones 13" said the man, "Last one in the stack, come on, we have already been to 2 other or adoption centers today, you can't really be picky..." he started.
He looked over at his wife and noticed her intensely reading the file. She began reading the information off, top to bottom.
