The Silent, Simple, Small Home sat in the quaint outskirts of Planet Sucras in the pleasant year of 2018. Where things seemed to be settled and in control, even for a, considered, violent planet, it truly depended on where you set your foot down. But now there was an unforeseen occurrence to the house in the woodland outskirts...
The darkness covered the residence like a long, wide blanket. The sounds of a branch tapping the window, mixed in with the crackling, fluorescent fire that lit up what seemed to be a small, comfy living room. In the Living Room, sat a blanket mound, nuzzled into the sofa with the shape of what seemed to be a book in its hands.
The peacefulness of the living room would have to stop as the floorboards were heard creaking at each 'sneaking' step. A figure in the hallway. A short but almost menacing figure in the hallway. Their silhouette looked wrong, a mound on what look to be a head, something dragging along the wood behind them, spikey shadows just almost visible on the head mound and their walking was highly exaggerated, taking long strides with their petit legs.
As they crept, they came to the doorway which emitted the warm light of the lit fireplace, broadcasting its beauty through flickers and the crackling voice it sang with. The Light attracted the unlighted figure in, but they remained making their way slowly around to the sofa...to the occupied blanket mound. Before anyone knew it, they were exactly under the blanket, but they did not stop there, moving over a little more before they halted quietly. Then, with a shift of the legs, a movement of the clawed hands and a small bottom wiggle, the figure leapt onto the blanket and gave an extravagant,
" RAWR!! "
The yell bellowed from a small excited human child, in a dinosaur costume.
" Oh! I a am down, I h have fallen!"
The act came from a tired yet delighted young adult, setting the book aside onto the carpeted floor, retracting his arms to pick the dinosaur up from under the arms. He would pull the child close, setting him comfortably down in his blankets and arms. Once he knew the ecstatic four-year-old was comfortable he let his fingertip gently collide onto his button nose.
Just then, the hallway light turned on and another face appeared except this one was in a smile, leaning against the doorway, his rough voice making its appearance,
" Well Orin, did he get Ya good? " Silas, the oldest out of the other two brothers would question, scratching his stubble with a chuckle, " He certainly got me earlier. "
Orin, the middle of the two, would smile at Silas as a hand stroked the plush dinosaurs head that seemed to have eaten his younger brother, Arlo's hair, "Absolutely t terrified me." He of course had to play along; he would never want to ruin excitement like Arlos. " En veldig skummel dinosaur!" He exclaimed in Norwegian, as he eskimo kissed his giggling mess of a brother that he had called 'a very scary dinosaur'.
Silas looked to the clock on the marble mantel above the fireplace, watching as it had finished its lap and finally ticked onto seven post meridiem, and he knew exactly what that meant as he had watched it tick for many years.
" Well, you best get in the back garden, time to see how well you can work those arms. " Silas laughed to Orin's direction. Orin on the other hand had raised an eyebrow before it finally clicked in his exhausted brain. " Oh, Ho Ho, you best think I am good with my a arms!" He spoke up before picking up Arlo who looked confused on what was happening.
Orin had been very busy with college, finally onto break, getting his grades and wants; he was awfully tired. He had stared at a screen for hours and hours on end, but he knew University was still on the horizon. He would enjoy this break while it lasted.
