Today, September 30th, is the national day for Truth and Reconciliation, or Orange Shirt Day. Today we look at residential schools and their harmful and lasting impacts on Indigenous communities. These schools have been the source of trauma for many and we're still working to right to wrongs of the past, which won't ever be an easy task given how poorly Indigenous peoples have been treated. Today we remember those who never made it back home from the schools and listen to the survivors.
For this day I decided to draw Nunavut, in my headcannons she's Inuk. I'll also provide some sources and I encourage you go and do some more of your own research.
