A/N: HELLO!! I'm so sorry for keeping you waiting! Enjoy chapter 2 of Prince At Heart: The Sequel! :)
!!2 days missing!!
Ellie's POV
"Jamie? Jamie! Are you listening to a word I'm saying?" I ask him.
"Huh what? Yes Ellie, I think the pink dress is Lottie's," Jamie replies half-heartedly.
I smack my palm against my forehead. Jamie and I are walking towards our first class of the day which is maths for me and english for him.
"Jamie, I wasn't even talking about dresses," I say, rolling my eyes.
"What? Really, I swear you were..." Jamie replies, running his hand through his hair sheepishly.
Poor guy. He looks exhausted. He must be so distraught over Lottie's kidnapping.
"Jamie, even though Lottie's missing it doesn't mean she's dead. You are no use to her if you let sleep and hope run away from you. Okay? Try not to worry. I'm sure she's fine," I assure him. Though deep down, I get a feeling of dread: what if Lottie's kidnapper has sinister plans for her?
----
Ding-ding-ding!
The bell rings, as Ms Hezbell (my favourite maths teacher), finishes up the lesson.
"And don't forget to finish the exercise in chapter 8 about algebra!" she calls, as the students start to leave the room.
I slowly pack up my stuff and as I do, I see Binah waiting at the doorway for me.
I proceed to pack much more slowly, just to annoy her.
I let out a secret smile as Binah gives a little huff and marches over to me.
"Ellie!" she cries.
"Binah!" I match her tone, lightly. My hands sweep up the last of my things into my bag. "What's wrong?"
She glances around comically, as if checking if anyone was listening. I roll my eyes. We were the only ones left in the classroom.
"I think I know something," she whispers.
"About what?" I cross my arms over my chest protectively. Please let it be some information about Lottie. Please!
"It's about Jamie..."
Lottie's POV
"So, humour me. How did you get yourself double crossed?" I ask, as I eat my breakfast of some mushy oatmeal.
It was morning, I think, and Edmund and I had woken up to the sounds of the guards jeering and laughing at him.
The guards, in question, are now back upstairs doing some 'top secret and very important things' (their words not mine), so Edmund and I are left alone by ourselves in our respectful cells down in the deepest and smelliest part of the world. It is a surprise to me that there are only two of us here as prisoners, you would think that this evil baddies club would have more enemies, but I guess not.
"I don't even know. I guess they were just using me maybe," Edmund gives a shrug. He has been a bit down in the dumps after the guard's smack-talk and I guess his self-esteem levels aren't that high at the moment. But what do I care? It's his fault that I'm here anyways.
"Okay. But tell me. Why does this evil baddies club want me? I mean, I'm just Lottie Pumkin, an ordinary girl living an ordinary life," I give a shrug of my own.
"But you're not ordinary. You're the Crown Princess of Maradova," Edmund squints at me in the dark. I can feel rather than see his confused face and raised eyebrow.
Oops. When I was answering the question I was talking about myself not my job as a portman.
"Oh yeah. But other than that, I'm really just a normal girl in a normal life," I shrug, acting unconcerned when really inside I am hitting my head against the palm of my head, kicking myself for being so careless.
