Prologue

(Katalya's POV)

We were running, running as fast as our four legs could carry us. My bag full of my clothes and my phone, iPod, and my picture of my mother.

My mother was killed by the rogue attack on our pack and our dad was taken hostage. The last thing my mother said to my two brothers and I was that we were to run as far away as possible as soon as possible. That was two days ago and we were still running. Our paws make soft thudding sounds as we run across the Montana forest floor.

Our wolves were stronger than most meaning we can run longer without getting tired as quick. We only have this because we have alpha blood in our systems. Out pack was the Blue Blood pack of the state of Washington, and our dad was the Alpha.

The days were short because of oncoming winter but seemed too long with the burden of knowing our mother was dead and our father was gone and probably dead as well.

Finally I couldn't take it and I collapsed. Reggie and Josh stood above me nudging with their wet wolf noses. They abruptly stiffened and growled out a menacing snarl. The alpha of the territory we were heading through came out of the trees in human form.

Both of my brothers crowded around me. I looked through the small gap and only caught a glimpse of the alpha through my blurry wolf eyes. He was handsome and he was very menacing. As though he felt the presence of my eyes on him, he looked through the gap at me. His eyes widened and his face immediately softened. His eyes were widening even more when I started to droop. The last thing I heard before I passed out was a voice that I can only describe as gruff but so soft at the same time saying so softly "Mate".
