"Sir! We have a huge problem! We'll lose Akshara Ma'am! She's sinking again and again!"
Dr. Abhimanyu Birla's heart had stopped the moment he heard Rohan say this. He had immediately jumped to his feet, just what he had feared was happening and until he was alive he wouldn't let anything happen to his Akshu - come what may!
For that, it was imperative he be there inside that operating room with his love and his team helping him in saving the woman who was everything to him and who had put her everything on the line just to save him an year ago. It was time he used her gift to him, to save her.
Abhimanyu would have rushed inside the hospital even if he had to fight his way in, had Neil and Rohan not held him back. "Sir, you cannot barge in like that or it will create further problems for your assistance in Ma'am's surgery!", Rohan said.
Dr. Abhimanyu who was known for keeping his calm in face of any medical emergency had actually lost his cool when it came to his wife's life. "Bhai, listen to Rohan! Uski poori baat sun lo and then we will take action accordingly. Hm Bhabhi ko kuchh nhi hone denge!"
"Nahi, Neil! Tum samajh nhi rhe but iss waqt Akshu ki condition bahot critical hai! Maine uske zaqm dekhe hain, Neil! Meri Akshu iss waqt kitne dard mein hogi! Wo suffer kr rhi hai! Sirf meri bewakoofiyon ki wajah se!", Abhimanyu had almost cried.
"Abhimanyu Sir, please calm down and meri poori baat sun lijiye please! Sir, ma'am ki haalat iss waqt kaafi naazuk zaroor hai but aisi nhi jisko aap treat naa kr sakein aur hm sbne poori koshish kr ke ma'am ko stable kiya hai abhi ke liye but hmaare paas zyaada time nhi hai. Problem ye hai ki jis senior government doctor ko unka case diya gya hai, unko Akshara ma'am ke jaise sensitive wound ka experience nahi hai and ye baat unhone khud kahi hai.", Dr. Rohan had managed to calm Abhi down but had given him another problem to worry about.
"Rohan! Aise doctor ke haath mein main meri Akshu ko kaise chhod sakta hoon? Mujhe OR mein jaana hai abhi ke abhi! Tum bhi jaante ho maine iss tarah ki sensitive injuries kitni baar handle kari hain!"
"Haan, Rohan! Bhai ek dm sahi keh rahe hain! Iss waqt bhai ka andar hona bahot zaroori hai!"
"Yes, Sir. I know isiliye hmaare paas ek solution hai. Aap un doctor ko convince kariye ki you know how to deal with that type of wound, hm sb bhi aapko support krne ko taiyaar hain! Phir aap unke saath Chief of Investigation ke paas jaaiye and unko mana lijiye ki it's better to have an experienced doctor treating the critical wound than someone who hasn't dealt with the same."
(A/N: Abhi and Neil would not have been able to think of a solution calmly, you know? They're in the middle of panicking so I had to bring Dr. Rohan as the knight in shining armour 🤭)"Rohan, hmaare paas ye krne ka time bilkul nhi hai!", Abhimanyu refuted.
"Sir, aapko apni team pr trust hai naa?", Rohan asked. On seeing Abhi's nod, Rohan said,"Sir, aap hm pr chhod dijiye ma'am ko stable rakhne ki responsibility. We will get the OR and ma'am ready for the surgery, tb tk aap jaa kr Chief se permission le lijiye. Hm sb aapko OR mein milte hain."
Convincing the doctor-in-charge had been easy for Abhimanyu. Once he had laid emphasis on the part that the news that the doctor who didn't have enough experience took on a sensitive case and it resulted in something untoward happening to the patient, got out, the doctor's reputation would be affected, the doctor had agreed to talk to the Chief with him.
The Chief had been a tough nut to crack. He was a part of the investigation so he didn't give much care about the patients and their lives. What he wanted was the investigation to be complete ASAP and he could take action against the Birla Hospital for medical malpractice. He had been given strict instructions to not allow the doctors of the family or the members of the top management to come inside the premises while the investigation was going on so that they couldn't manipulate the investigation in any way.
And then Dr Abhimanyu Birla had begged him. For the first time in his life, he had begged someone. He had begged the Chief to allow him to save his love, his life, his Akshu. The Chief had agreed but had placed a condition in front of Abhimanyu. He had to take complete responsibility if anything unexpected happened to the patient who he was so insistent on treating and his licence would then be cancelled on accounts of disturbing the investigation and for entering the hospital premises forcefully. Without a second thought, Abhimanyu had agreed. And why wouldn't he? What was his medical licence and his practice if it couldn't save his wife's life.
He had asked Rohan to bring him all the test reports and all the vital readings that they had gotten from the time Akshara was admitted. He had quickly scrubbed for the surgery while also reading up on the information, only to find out what he had feared. He had known in his heart that the wound of the glass piece in Akshara's chest could be injuring her heart and he had been right.
The glass had been touching her major artery and the slightest of miscalculation or mis-step would result in that sharp glass piece cutting the artery and then no matter how much he worked, how much he had studied, all the case studies, all his experience would fail him because he had no way of repairing that artery or stopping the severe blood loss she would have as a result.
Abhimanyu's heart had trembled on realising that things were not as simple as he had thought them to. In fact, Akshara's surgery was one of the most sensitive surgeries he would ever perform. But now wasn't the time for him to think upon what would happen or what could happen.
He would go inside, harden his heart, follow his instincts, perform the surgery and save his wife because then he would beg for her forgiveness for he knew he had hurt her badly this time. He had not only broken her heart but had also insulted her love, her trust, her efforts in their relationship by sending those damned divorce papers to her without thinking.
He took a deep breath, closed his eyes shut and called upon his Mahadev to help him and guide him to save Akshara, to save his life, to save the reason for his living. With prayers to Mahadev in his heart, he had pushed open the door of the OR with a strange sense of calmness.

Hey guys!
It's me again. I hope you liked this chapter!I don't think this chapter had a lot of emotions or a lot of progress. I mean, I am not exactly satisfied with this chapter but okay. This is the best I could give. I think emotions might be a bit lacking so now tell me in the comments on how you like this one.
We again follow the same drill, like the next chapter would be out by late tonight and this time I promise it will be there even if it might not be this long, okay? This is about 1100+ words, it'll maybe have 800+ words in that but I'll make sure it's there.
P. S. Even though I haven't yet replied, I read all your comments about the story being fine as it is. Thank you so much 💖
We're at 3.7K reads!!! Yayyyyy!!! ❤️
