Even before Abhimanyu's shock could get a hold of him, the doctor in him took over. He knew how crucial were those 60 minutes that could affect the life and dea- No! He wouldn't allow his mind to go towards any negative situation! This was his Akshu and even in his worst nightmares he couldn't imagine anything untoward happening to her.

He had immediately gathered himself and had shaken up Neil to gather the information on the whereabouts of his wife and the location of the accident site. Neil was in tears himself after that call but seeing his Bhai taking control of the situation, he pushed down his guilt and fear for his Bhabhi's sake and had prattled everything he knew. Abhimanyu had squeezed his eyes shut on knowing it was for him she was coming to the temple and he was the reason behind the current miserable state she might be in.

Then they had realized they were probably the only ones who actually knew about the accident because the road from Goenka House to the temple and possibly the midway point where the accident had taken place was mostly deserted and Akshara wouldn't even get the basic first aid and that they had to hurry and reach her if they didn't want her situation to worsen.

Abhimanyu could only rest assured once she was in his care, in his hospital and with his best resources. With this thought he had again called Dr. Rohan while him and Neil were rushing towards Akshu and had asked him to send an ambulance from the Birla Hospital to the location he had sent him because his Akshara Ma'am had gotten into a terrible accident.

Neil had frantically driven to the tentative location he had known from Akshara, when he laid his eyes on the wreckage on the right side of his car. It was his Bhabhi's car he knew but judging from her car's condition he couldn't even begin to imagine what his Akshara Bhabhis's condition would be!

Abhimanyu had never felt his heart being squeezed the way the scene in front of him was doing to him. Neil had not even stopped the car when he had thrown his side of the car door open and had run towards his Akshu. He had felt another wave of fear, pain, guilt and devastation hitting him hard seeing his love lying there with her head against the steering wheel and surrounded by all the glass and smoke.

He had hurriedly opened her door from the inside through the broken window, removed her seatbelt and had attempted to bring her out with Neil's help while still trying to stabilize her injuries. He had immediately felt for her pulse which was weak but still there. It was then he had heard Neil's horrified whisper "Bhai?". Without looking at Neil and still checking her pupils to figure out if Akshu had faced any head trauma, he had said, "What happened, Neil? Look, we don't have time to waste at all! Call up Rohan and ask him how long till we have the ambulance here? We're really running short of time and if the ambulance is not here in the next 10 minutes, we'll have to take Akshu in our car to the hospital but I don't want to risk moving her without the proper medical equipments that our hospital's ambulances are equipped with!"

"Bhai... There's a lot of blood... And... Glass", Neil had said in his terrorised voice. Annoyed, Abhimanyu had said, "Neil! She has had a major accident! Of course there will be blood and glass! That's why I want you to find out the current status of the ambulance and be quick!"

Neil did not know how to show his bhai what he had seen but he shook Abhimanyu's shoulders relentlessly until he had looked up and when Abhimanyu had finally looked up at him, he saw the horrified and the terror stricken face of his younger brother while he continuously looked at one place.

Abhimanyu had seen hundreds and thousands of accident cases, both major and minor ones but never once had he felt his heart drop the way it did once he saw the pool of blood his life, his wife was lying in, in just a matter of 10 minutes and then he had seen it's cause.

The large piece of glass that was stuck in his wife's chest and even without proper tests, with the position of the piece and the amount of blood loss, Dr. Abhimanyu Birla knew that this piece had done and was doing some major harm to his Akshu. It was the moment he felt he had failed her and now his M.B.B.S. degree was failing him because he couldn't think of a single way he could save her.

And then they had heard the siren of the ambulance coming towards them. Still terrified but Abhimanyu had breathed a sigh of relief because he knew the staff at his Birla Hospital won't let anything happen to his Akshara.

All of them had quickly loaded her up in the gurney and Abhimanyu decided to get in the ambulance with Akshara while Neil would follow them to the hospital. Once they reached the hospital, Neil and Abhimanyu were stopped at the main reception since the order from the medical association on not allowing any member of the Birla family or the management was still in effect.

Dr. Rohan, the other junior doctors and the nurses had rushed Akshara to the OR immediately while a senior government doctor was informed about her case and injuries. Abhimanyu couldn't bear to allow someone who he didn't trust to handle Akshu's injuries but he had no other option apart from waiting around and being helpless.

The misery then struck him ten-fold while he sat there waiting for further news and introspecting everything he had done, had said and had missed these past few days when his impulsiveness, hurt and guilt had made life hell for both of them.

He might have still been stuck in his thoughts had Dr. Rohan not come running towards them, panting, out of breath, terrified, almost in tears and said, "Sir! We have a huge problem! We are losing Akshara Ma'am! She's sinking!"

Dr. Abhimanyu Birla's heart stopped. He had never feared any moment more than he did the moment he heard this.
