It was a rainy night.
The impact of the rain dropping onto the steep puddles as Luna ran her fingers through the pages of her book.

Vance laid his head on her stomach as he slept.
Mom and Dad were fighting. He would always come into her neat, organized room and sleep next to her or talk with her.

He was tired today.
He walked in and immediately fell asleep.
The doorbell rang. Mom and Dad were too focused on proving each other wrong to notice.
Luna gently slid away from Vance, walking to the door.
She saw Bruce with an umbrella over his head and a smile on his face slowly increasing as she opened the door.

"Hi?" She curled a brow.
"Oh. I'm sorry for how my friends acted today." He frowned.

"What the fuck are you doing here." Luna furrowed her brows.
"I just wanted to apologize, and—"
He brought out a flower from his pocket and handed it to Luna.

"What the fuck?" Luna stared at the flower.
Bruce put it back in his pocket embarrassed.

"I'm sorry." He looked down.
"Go away." She slammed the door on him and walked upstairs, going to her bed and continuing to read.
After an hour she fell asleep.

-

It was a school morning.
Luna shut her locker to see Bruce on the other side.
"You know I went a long way to pick that flower for you." He spun it around in a light grip.

"Why the fuck are you so obsessed with me now?" She furrowed her brows.
"I'm sorry for trying to apologize." He trailed after her as she sped walk through the hall.

"Well I don't want an apology from you. I want one from them." She grunted, shoving him away.
"I'm sorry." He frowned

"Shut up!" She walked away.
She walked into class, grumpy.

She looked behind her to see Bruce wave. She rolled her eyes and continued on going on with her day.

Even in lunch he tried giving her his extra fruit bowl. He loved fruits, he felt a light relief when she turned them down.

He spent the day trying to apologize.
She was annoyed to the point she tried hiding. She was always found.

-

As school ended it was dark and pouring.
Vance went home early cause he got in a big fight.

There was loud thunder, Luna covered her ears in fear of the next loud thunder striking.

Her shoes lightly dropped onto the floor, making a gentle splash on the puddles.

She was cold.
She stared at her shoes and the rough, damp concrete.

She felt shade hover over her. She looked behind her.
She saw Bruce holding an umbrella.

"Why are you so attached to me. I don't want an apology." She asked, annoyed.
"I want to give you one anyway." He smiled.

He held his arm out with the umbrella.
"Don't get yourself wet." Luna said, taking her backpack from her back and holding it above her.

"Your backpack fabric is thin." Bruce said as she walked away.
She turned around. "What?"

"If you hold it up for too long it'll bleed through and your things will get wet." Bruce said.

She put her backpack on her back slowly
He handed the umbrella to her. She had a light grip before he let go.

The two stared at each other before she walked away.

She walked home, closing the umbrella as she made it to the entrance.
She closed the door.

She expected Vance to be in bruises by now.
Whenever he gets sent home Dad beats him. Luna can't do anything, so she goes into his room and helps bandage him up and comfort him for the rest of the night.

She placed the umbrella against the door and slipped her shoes off, walking in.

She saw Dad on the couch with a dropped belt on the floor. She rushed to Vance's room, slipping the first aid kit into her grip and shoving through the door.

She saw him curled into a ball with bruises and blood leaking from his mouth onto the mattress, he was still awake. Just trembling.

She sat next to him and pat his back gently.
She rubbed an ointment gently on his bruises, putting a patch on it.

She wiped the blood from his face, bandaging the cuts and hugging him gently.

Tears still streamed from his cheeks. He just silently sniffed.

She stood up and left to her room after she laid Vance down when he fell asleep in her arms.

She saw the phone ringing on her nightstand.
She walked to it. Picking it up.
"Hello?"

"Luna?" Bruce's voice came out the phone
"Bruce?" She curled a brow.
"Hey!" His voice got cheerful.

"How'd you get my number." She asked Bruce
"Oh it was on the phone book!" He said.
"Stop being attached to me." She said before hanging up.
"Wai-" she heard as she put the phone down back into its stand.

BRUCE POV

She hung up.
Damn.

I laid the phone back down.
"Bruce!" Amy called.
"What!"

"Stop using so much toothpaste!"
"That's mom not me!" I shouted.
I laid down on my bed.

This shit is harder than I thought.
It'll rain tomorrow. I'll find an excuse to walk her to school.

LUNA POV

Luna opened her eyes slowly in her sheets.
She rubbed her eyes and tossed herself up to check on Vance.

She first brushed her teeth and hair and washed her face.
She picked out an outfit

A tight black long sleeve shirt with a cardigan and baggy, light pants

She went into Vances room to see him in the sheets. She could see little strands of hair stick out the sheets he's dug in.

She uncovered him and tapped him lightly.
"Wake up, it's Friday let's go."
