If I were to give you a donkey... I'll just give you a mirror.

"Hey, Evi, what would it be like to visit the carnival?"

I look at Yina, my best friend in the whole universe, and snort. "As if we can. Your dad will kill you, and my Aunt would kill me. What's the use?"

She pouts and rolls over on the bed so she could face me, her elbows supporting her head, with her hands smushing her cheeks up. "We could try. Think of all the fun things we could do, Evi!" she mutters with a whiny little girl voice.

"Like what?" I put down my book so I could listen.

"We could ride the Ferris Wheel! Or play games at the booths! Or, or, or visit the haunted mansio-"

"Hell no." I look at Jaxon, Yina's twin brother who just came into their shared bedroom, and laugh at his horrified face, "When we visit the carnival tonight, I am keeping you away from the haunted mansion."

"Wait, we're going to the carnival tonight?!" Yina screams just as Jaxon jumps on her to cover her mouth.

"Shut up, you good for nothing twin!" he whispers as he lets go of her mouth, "I'm sneaking out to see my friend Kian. Might as well let you girls tag along so I can say to the 'rents that I took you girls out to dinner and to ice skate at the park in case they catch us."

"Thanks, Jax! We owe you one!" I say as I give him a thumbs up.

He waves us off, "You guys better change and prepare. I'm leaving in 30 minutes."

The wind was blowing against my face as I rode shotgun in Jaxon's car. I wrestled with Yina for this spot so I'm not going to miss the chance of opening the window all the way and experiencing the night air whipping my face,

The lights from the carnival were seen from a distance. Locals here in Willensburg would freak if something with that bright of a light pollution percentage appeared out of nowhere, but I guess they let it slide since the Mayor announced the carnivals arrival 3 days before they actually arrived.

Let's just say after seeing pictures of the performers, all the girls in Willensburg had a mini ovary explosion after seeing the trapeze performer, Isaac, and the Ringmaster, Kian.

Yes, the same Kian who Jaxon is friends with. How Jaxon became friends with him? We'll never know. Once, Jaxon befriended a squirrel. A frickin squirrel. We thought he's just naturally friendly, but that was just weird.

We reach the carnival in record time and Jaxon, like the good big brother he is, pushes us both out so he can lock his car, Bridgette, which he calls his baby.

"Gee, thanks!" Yina yells as Jaxon runs off the the carnival after giving us our tickets.

"Don't mind him, Yina, I'm sure Bridgette will make a good wife for him." I tease.

We laugh at our joke before walking arm in arm towards the carnival.

All around us we could hear conversations about the how the magic show is the most awaited moment of the carnival, we could smell pie and deep fried everything drifting to our noses, and the children were running around in happiness at being at the carnival for the first time.

You see, in our little town of Willensburg, it's rare for us to have a few fun events like carnivals, circus', and town fairs. The only thing exciting is usually the annual Founding Day.
