Beatrix. What could you say about her? She didn't follow normal standards. Even fairy-godmother ones, which was what she was! She was super interested in normal people, and of right now, in trouble. She was supposed to be getting her first quest soon, but she'd been peeking through mirrors-her favorite way to look into the human world- and seen someone like always, but this time, they'd seen her.

"But only for a split second!!!" She argued. Currently, she was at dinner with her family.

"You can't let this happen again!" Her mom exclaimed.

"I won't! Just give me a chance! I'll make someone's dream come true. What if they were my age?"

Her aunt looked at her mom."You know, that's not a bad idea," she said. Beatrix felt hope. "How about, when she has her first assignment, the girl will be a child her age?" Her mom nodded. "Alright, then it's settled," said her grandmother. ¨In a week's time, Beatrix will have her first client." Beatrix was so excited she could scream. Finally! She been practicing her entire life for this. She wanted to practice immediately.

"Could I be excused?"

Her mom nodded, and she ran to her room. She took her wand off her bed. It was violet, encrusted with amethysts. She took out her book called "House Help: Easy spells to get through the day," It was pretty simple, but helpful nonetheless. She tried to think of something girls her age dreaded doing. Then she had a great idea. Cleaning her room! Her family liked the house to be clean and pristine, which was the opposite of Beatrix. She was probably the messiest fairy godmother ever. "Show me a spell to clean your room," she commanded. The book's pages flipped, and stopped at an Organization spell. She skimmed over it, and closed her eyes, imagining a perfect, clean version of her room. She waved her wand in a circular pattern, pointing to things in her room she knew were there and going around to a different spot with her eyes still closed. She opened her eyes and gasped. It had worked! Well, mostly. Some things she hadn't thought of were still on the floor and under her bed. She jumped onto her bed, and let out a squeal of joy.A week from today, she'd be in the human world, which had always fascinated her. Natural brown hair? Crazy! Everyone had more colorful hair than that! She herself had violet hair. One girl she knew had brown hair, but orange, yellow, and green spread throughout, so you couldn't call it plain. Beatrix thought brown looked modern and cool. Another thing she thought was crazy was that there was no flight. How did you get around? In her studies, they'd prepared her for some things, like that. Apparently they used cars. She knew what they were, but flying was so much easier. Of course, there were birds, but the humans themselves never went more than a foot above the ground without the help of a machine. "Beatrix!" Startled, Beatrix almost fell off her bed. The sheets slid down from her weight, and went onto the floor when she got up. So much for a clean room.

"Yeah?"

"Come help me with the dishes! You need to learn these basic spells!"

"Coming!" She always tried to go ahead, and sometimes she forgot simple spells because she wanted to practice more advanced ones. Her mother was in the kitchen, waving her wand like she was conducting a symphony.

"You do the utensils!" she yelled over the faucet.

Beatrix nodded and waved her wand. The forks and spoons lifted. Stay up, stay up! She thought. She ran them through the stream of water, trying to keep them afloat under the pressure of it. Then she repeated the process with another couple utensils. Her mother did the plates in a long string, but it was harder because you had to keep every single one up individually, instead of keeping a couple forks and spoons in the air. She finished and stared in awe at her mother. She was so amazing. She wanted to be as good at magic as her someday. Her mom finished and looked to Beatrix.

"You can go to your room if you want. I'm going to go to my latest client," she said and whisked away in pink sparkles.

Beatrix sighed longingly. If only she could do the same. She only had a week to wait, though, so that was lucky. Her friend was going on first quest tomorrow. Her client was going to be a 9-year-old girl called Kira. She was supposed to help dreams come true, even if those dreams are unknown. She remembered having to examine what that meant in class. It meant that you would help someone's dreams come true, help them reach their goal, even if they didn't know they had that goal. For example, a mother might think they wanted to work harder, but they actually wanted to spend more time with their daughter. She walked slowly to her room, thinking. What would her client want? She was glad he-or she- would be her age. Helping someone older would be awkward, and helping someone younger would get her distracted. Having a client her age would be easier, because they'd most likely share some interests. And become friends! She paused in her doorway. It was going to be amazing! She checked the clock on the wall. 7:00. 2 hours till she would get to bed. She walked to her bathroom to brush her hair, thinking of the adventures that would come next friday.
