I quickly brushed my hair and touched up my makeup. I patted my back pocket to assure that my cell phone was still there, and headed out the door. After walking down a few hallways, I stopped at dorm 97 and knocked.
"Come in!" Typical, Maddie had left the door unlocked. I turned the knob and took a step inside. Maddie turned towards me.
"What do you think?" She was wearing pale blue jeans, with a black tank top and a leather jacket. It looked nice with with her raven hair pulled back in a ponytail.
"You look amazing." She squealed in delight and ran over to hug me.
"I can't believe I'm best friends with a model." I smiled and brushed back a strand of hair.
"Future model." She corrected me while glancing at herself in the mirror. After making sure that her makeup, applied with care to look natural, was still perfect she patted the top of her hair to make sure that there weren't any bumps.
"Is that all you needed me for? Because I have a History exam tomorrow..." She shrugged in response.
"Go study my little book worm." She gently patted my head and went back to looking at herself in the mirror.
I walked out and quietly closed the door. I sighed before heading back to my dorm room. Ever since Jacqueline Meyer had discover her, she hadn't had a lot of free time lately, and whenever we did have the chance to hang out she would always have her mind elsewhere.
Before I knew what hit me, I hit against a wall. I looked and saw that I had been so lost in my thoughts, I had walked into someone.
"I'm so sorry!" I reached out a hand and the guy I had knocked down took it and got up. As he was brusing himself off, I took the chance to look at him. Tall, kind of skinny with black hair that covered his eyes, so I couldn't tell what colour they were. He smiled shyly at me, and I had to admit he had a cute smile. Hell, he was pretty cute.
"I'm really sorry." He waved off my apology.
"Don't worry about it."
Oh God, I was so embarassed. My cheeks were bright red as I opened my dorm room door.
I picked up my school bag and removed my History book from it, placing it on my desk. I sat down and started reading the first chapter.

I woke up to my alarm clock blaring it's annoying wake-up call. I got up and hit the snooze button, and realized I had fallen asleep while studying.
"Dammit." I muttered. At least I had two more days to study before my exam. Thank God for weekends.
I hopped into the shower in my dorm room. Most people had to go to the shower area downstairs to bathe, but my dad had paid extra so I could have my own.
As I got out, I wrapped a fluffy blue towel around myself.
I picked up my hairbrush and started brushing my tangled and wet hair, before putting it in a messy bun.
"Cute dress." My eyes widdened as I turned to see who was in my room. I relaxed as I saw Jeff leaning against a wall.
"You know, you could knock and not scare the living hell out of me."
He laughed. "Where's the fun in that?"
I rolled my eyes.
"How did you even get in?"
He shrugged. "Door was unlocked."
Jeff took a step closer to me, leaning in close to my ear.
"You should be more careful."
I nodded as he started kissing my neck.
I politely pushed him away, and he gave me a confused look.
"I have to get ready for work."
He sighed and ran his hand through his blond hair. "You know, I've been really trying to take it slow for you.. But it's been a month and we haven't even.."
"I know." I cut him off mid sentence. "But I told you, I'm not ready for that. And you said that that was okay."
"Well.." He started, but I cut him off yet again.
"I would reeeeally love to have this conversation on how it's not going to happen anytime soon, but I really do have to get ready. How about we discuss it over dinner?"
He smiled and his blue eyes lit up slightly. "Only if you make my favourite."
I laughed. "Microwaved pre-packaged macaroni and cheese it is."
He took me in his arms and kissed me, a little roughly, before letting me go.
"I'll see you tonight." He said as he walked out, shutting the door behind him.

"I am so sorry!"
Because of Jeff's appearance in my room, I had been late to work. I thought I would be in trouble, or even possibly fired. But Mrs. Cobbles just waved away my apology.
"It's alright my dear." She said with her kind smile.
I had only been working at her book store for a few months, but it already felt like Mrs. Cobbles was my grandmother. She was always taking care of me, asking about my day and such. She may be 87, but she is still so full of life. Her shoulder-length gray hair reminded me of my grandmother's, which is why I had started a conversation with her when I first started coming to Cobblestone's Books.
"Where is Mr. Stone?" I asked.
"In back, probably napping." I nodded, and decided to let him rest instead of going to say hi.
Mrs. Cobbles handed me a thin piece of paper. As I read my tasks for the day, I saw that my first job was cashier duty. I walked over to the counter and stood behind it even though there weren't any customers yet. I put on my name tag and was organising receipts when I heard the familiar chimes of the bell positionned above the doorway. I looked up to see a girl, a few years older than me. She had bright red hair and purple eyes, due to the coloured contacts she was wearing.
Mrs. Cobbles got up and went to greet her. Since I had nothing to do, I listened in on their conversation. I learned that the girl's name was Liz and that she was looking for a book on 15th century poetry. After Mrs. Cobbles found her the perfect book that fulfilled the requirements, Liz came over to me to pay.
"Hi." I greeted her. She mumbled a hello and held out the book. I scanned the price and read it to her out loud. She took out a twenty dollar bill, and after I gave her her change she leaned in closer to see my name tag.
"Hmm.."
"What?" I asked.
"You're name is certainly original, kid."
I nodded, and she gave me a small smile. I handed her the book and she left. I took off my name tag and examined it. My name did have a certain originality to it I guess. Kay Cassidy.
