I watched my step as I walked across the large ranch. The skies were very clear, making the sun beam 10x more. I wouldn't mind as much if the humidity wasn't so high. I watched from a distance as my best-friend carried haystacks on each shoulder like it wasn't anything to her.

I mean, which is understandable because she's been doing this since she was a child. If she were to struggle, I would've been highly concerned.

I held the glasses in each hand with so much care. The ice inside each glass was beginning to melt causing the outside of the glass to drip with water.

"BEY!" I shouted as I approached her. She looked my way and smiled. She hurriedly put the haystack into the rest of the pile before walking over to me. She took the cloth that was hanging in her pocket and wiped her forehead.

Her long braids were put into a bun. She had on some relaxed fitted blue jeans, some black work boots where I'm pretty sure she probably got from Walmart and a plain red shirt.

"Well howdy there Lil lady." She said making her country accent thicker, making me laugh.

"I thought you could use a drink and something to snack on." I said bouncing the bag that was on my back.

"Why thank you ma'am. I certainly can." She grabbed one of the glasses that was in my hand and wasted no time drinking it down.

"Whew I'm sorry. I'm just really thirsty." She said in her normal voice as we walked back to her home. She had an accent, but not as strong as the one she was putting on.

"You need to start bringing a bottle of water along with you. I'm not gonna be here to bring you a refreshing drink every time now." I told her.

"You said that last time. And the time before that, and the time before that time an-"

"I get it Giselle." I rolled my eyes as she laughed.

"What are you doing here anyways? I thought you were supposed to be in Mississippi." She went through the bag of snacks as we walked.

"I came back early. My family irritated me and I did not want to be anywhere to the point that they could just show up."

"So leave the state?" I nodded my head.

"You're sick." She laughed

"I just didn't want to talk to them. It's always the same thing every time. Tell me how rude I was, make me feel bad for expressing my feelings, ignore me for the rest of the time I'm there until the last day, tell me how much they love me and blah blah blah." I expressed this to her.
