Once I get home, I took a deep breath and pushed everything down. Every feeling, every doubt. Everything, and a wave of numb washed over me. I walked inside and packed up everything I owned: the clothes, the dishes, pictures, and food. I left the furniture, and it looked exactly how it looked when I first move it 6 and a half years ago. Before I packed up my computer, I pulled up realestate places in California. I applied for a little house with 3 bedrooms. Maybe I could get a roommate. Definitely not a partner.
I don't mean to sound girly, but Matheo was it for me; he was the love of my life. I would not survive losing him. He had my heart and soul, and I needed them back for my own protection. I hope he understood that. As I finished applying for the little house, I put my computer away and walked out the door. I never really had much, so I stuffed everything into my car and started the long drive to my new home. It would take days to get there, and I was already exhausted.
A stopped after about 8 hours and locked my car to take a rest. My phone ringing woke me up. It was Matheo. I ignored his call and put my phone on silent. I knew what I was doing was hurting him, but he would move on and forget about me, eventually. I started driving and ignoring all his calls. Once I got to California, I got a notification that I got the house! Thank god I did not want to sleep in a hotel tonight. I drove to the house and met with a man wearing a suit; he was scrawny with blond hair cut short and styled to look more professional. He couldn't have been over 25 years old. I gave him a warm smile. "I just bought this house," I said, and he gave me a warm smile.
"Andrea Russo?" I nod. "I'm going to need some ID before letting you in." I pulled out my wallet and gave him my ID, looked it over before giving it back. This is the fastest I have ever bought a house. I wanted a two bedrooms house but a three bedroom was the only thing available. It was two stories, with 3 bedrooms upstairs, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, living room, patio, daylight room, and a front porch. It was my dream house. My neighbors weren't too close, and I had a fence around my house. It was nearly perfect. Once the guy left, I unpacked all the boxes from my car.
I put the boxes in the empty living room area; I had a million text from Matheo. "Please come back. We can talk about this." "Andrea, we're going to be okay. The doctors said I'm okay and so is Isabella." "Andrea no one is leaving," "Andrea please tell me where you are so we can talk." "I never would have pushed you so fast if I knew how something like this would affect you." "Please, Andrea." I sighed. "Matheo, it's not your fault I wasn't strong enough to stay. I love you, I always will, but all I have been to you is a burden, and I can't survive losing anyone else I love. I'm sorry."
I sent the text and blocked him; I was exhausted, but I had nowhere to sleep. I had spent almost everything I had in my savings; I looked up the nearest furniture store, and it was a 20 minute drive. I could barely keep my eyes open. I locked the doors and unboxed a couple of blankets. I made a pallet on the floor and laid down; it wasn't long before I passed out. I wake up to my phone ringing. I grab it and answer it, "hello?" I say and Irene answered. "You got a place to stay down there?" "Yeah, the deal closed as soon as I got into town." "Okay, well, I think I'm gonna come visit. Can you send me the address?" "Sure" I end up the call and text her the address.
I slowly peel myself off the floor and let out a long sigh. The furniture store was closing in an hour. I got into my car and drove to the store. As I walked in, an employee ambushed me with a bunch of talking about sales. I put my hand up to stop her. "I am looking for a couch, a bed, and a crib. Do you guys have that here?" She nods, "we even have a service for them to deliver and set everything up for you!" I nod. "Where is everything?" She led me up an escalator and to the back room where a bunch of beds were. I went around and sat on at least 20 of them before I finally found the perfect one. The bed frame and the mattress luckily came together. Next were the couches. I picked out two black leather couches.
