Thomas' POV

I twiddle my thumbs as I wait for Natalia. The bell rings and I jump. Kids stampede out of the school with Natalia in the mix.

She comes over to the car looking angry yet... victorious? She opens the door and gets in.

"What did you do?"

"I slapped her."

"Did you get caught? Are you in trouble?"

"No. She cried because I stood up to her. She's one of those popular girls. She said she cried because it hurt. No, she cried because she can't 'control' me. Yeah, let's put it that way. She should've read my shirt. She had it coming."

"So, you are not in trouble?"

"No, no I am not in trouble."

"Sweet. Let's go home." I drive back to the house.

"What's up with your yard? Do you even have a lawnmower?"

"Yes."

"Let's go to the Home Depot! Your yard desperately needs a makeover."

"It's not planting time though."

"I know that. We're only going to get what the yard needs."

"Okay." This should be fun. I turn around and head to the Home Depot. We get there and she heads to the gardening section. She grabs a hose and a small bag of grass seed.

"Let's go."

"That's it?"

"You said it yourself, it's not planting season."

"Alright." We checkout and get in the car. Soul Sister comes on the radio and sings along. "You really are amazing."

She blushes. "Thanks."

"I almost forgot. We have to go buy your interview dress."

"Oh. Yay. Catch my sarcasm?"

"Mm hmm. Let's go" I turn and head towards a nice dress shop. I park and get out. "Come on Natalia."

"I don't like dresses."

"Natalia, you only have to wear it once."

"Fine. But I'm not gonna wear ANY makeup."

"Deal. Now let's go." She gets out. We walk in. She heads over to dresses that are more casual. "No, no, no. Come over here."

"Fine." I lead her over to the formal dresses. "These?"

"Yes. And if you don't pick anything out, I will."

"Go ahead. I'm a size four."

"Alright I will." I pick out a teal-y, turquoise, whatever, dress with a belt and small ruffle. "Go try it on."

"Do I have to?"

"Yes." She stomps over to the dressing rooms. I hear her grumble. She stomps out.

"There. Happy?"

I swallow. She looked so beautiful. I have to keep myself from dropping my jaw. "You look great."

"Thanks. But it's a dress. I'm only wearing it to the interview." She looks at the price tag. "Thomas. You can't buy this for me. It's too expensive."

"Go change back and throw the dress over. I'll put it back." She goes and changes. I grab the dress and check out. "Thanks."

Natalia comes out. "Let's go."

"Gladly. What's in the bag?"

"Your dress."

"I'm getting in the car and not talking to you." We get in the car and drive home. She marches to her room, forgetting about the yard.

I bring in her dress. After a few minutes I go up to her room.

She's laying on her bed, reading. She's wearing glasses, sweatpants, and a T-shirt. Her pants sit low on her waist so you can see her hip bone, and her shirt is hiked up so you can see her tight stomach.

I shut the door and gather myself. Stupid little man. Bad timing. Hopefully she won't notice. I go in her room.

"You alright, Natalia?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. Now shut up and leave me alone, I'm reading."

Natalia's POV

"Alright, alright." Thomas leaves the room. I keep reading. No, no, no! I put my bookmark in and chuck the book at the wall.

"NO!" I scream. Thomas runs up the stairs. He comes in the door panting.

"Are you okay?!"

"No! I am not! That stupid book..!"

"Oh. I get it. Need some ice cream?"

"And Netflix?"

"Of course."

"Let's do this thing!" He goes downstairs and I slide down the banister. Thomas is so awesome. He's almost like a brother.

I go to the freezer and grab a carton of cookies 'n' cream. I grab two spoons and jump on the couch next to Thomas.

"Let's watch Life of Pi."

"Okay."

And with that I feel better.
