"Your beauty will be in shades of melanin and light."_____________________
On these days, the grumpy agent spent most of his day at the office working on paperwork and other administrative issues. Today, many people were coming and going from the building for meetings, appointments, and other things, but this is a necessary and inevitable aspect of working as a significant agent for the World Government. To his dismay, he can't just simply capture criminals, and instantly forward their completion cases to superiors throughout the day without submitting any paperwork. But he's become acclimated to the procedure over time.
"Alright, we need to get the transfer request over to the higher-ups. ASAP!"
As the subordinates nodded in agreement, the tedious agent gave the order to leave his office. The man huffs, scratching his head dreadfully from the amount of paperwork he will have to complete tonight. The man was about to grab his custom-made pen that had a picture of his family to begin his assignment when the office phone suddenly blares. As he answered the phone, he sighed since he was expecting another lecture from his coworkers about having fun and going out tonight.
"L/N."
"Hello Agent L/N, it's a pleasure to speak with you. This is the Red Works Branch, otherwise known as RWB for short. We are a division of the Marines' undercover intelligence operations over at-"
"Yeah, I'm familiar with your organization."
"Wonderful, I understand you had a bit of a setback last night over the Greene drug case."
"It happens, we're moving two of the suspects to a detainment facility. We'll get what we need."
"I see... Look, agent L/N. We've been informed that you have been assigned an extremely covert, high-profile case that we are keenly interested in, primarily the Straw Hats. Therefore, we're phoning to express our interest. We've been notified that some of our resources are already being used by your team. I'd like to suggest working together in some capacity, proposing a partnership of some sort. You provide me with access to your suspects, and in exchange, I'll provide you-"
"That won't be necessary, we don't hand over our information to a branch that is notorious for using immoral tactics such as impalement, mutilation, and recruiting serial murderers."
"I know this is unorthodox, but we believe we can be very helpful in this investigation. The Straw Hats have a bounty of over 700 million berries. We can exclusively provide you our finest resources-"
"Listen I appreciate the offer, but I'm afraid it's out of the question. Thank you."
"Mr. L/N-"
The man abruptly hung up the phone without a second thought, causing the desk to rumble against him from exerting so much force. Those case vultures wouldn't stop calling him and his agency ever since he was assigned that case. If this was going to be his new normal, then he'd just have to desensitize himself, or rather, just become accustomed to it.
He had a feeling this case would be lengthy to uncover any fresh information that would be valuable to them. Not only were the details cynical, but they also contained numerous mistakes. It's no surprise he was assigned this case. The fools who had it before had made no progress at all.
"Fuckin' idiots, can't do a damn thing right. "
He would need to take major precautions over this since this matter held so much importance to the World Government. The leader of that damned crew had the potential to go to greater lengths, even going as far as becoming an Emperor. The bastard could probably even pass Shanks. That's why he was assigned it in the first place: to stop that from happening. The government was scared shitless by that possibility because the group was getting closer and closer to it.
As he rummaged through his desk, searching for the bounty posters of each of the members of the Straw Hats, he found what he was looking for. Each bounty poster displayed their photos, and the amount they were worth.
"Monkey D. Luffy..."
Since the Straw Hats were wanted worldwide and had the government after them, they had a different, unique worth. Dangerous gang organizations were worth berries, which equivalated to gold. Actually, Berries were currently valued far more than gold.
"Roronoa Zoro..."
For some reason, the government instructed his agency not to interact with the gang or arrest them if they were spotted in public, despite the fact that he knew their faces and could easily arrest them right now.
In the course of his whole career, he had only ever experienced this once, when he was given the Shanks case, which failed. He must have known that this was going to be the case of the century and the most significant catch of his career if he has to go through it a second time in his life.
He chuckles, as he gets up out of his chair and makes his way to the far end of the room to hang each bounty poster on his bulletin board. While he marked each bounty as a top priority; he stops at a particular poster. In the notes that he received, it was stated that this huge man was the vice-captain. Interesting...
At that moment, he knew exactly where to begin.
"This'll be fun."
