Why did this have to happen? Of all nights. Usually no one is out on the outskirts of town at this time. I hadn't even been able to fully see the dumpsters I was planning on scouting out for animals when that beating in my head started up again. That beating I knew could only come from the sound of a human heart calling for me.

The rabbits weren't enough. This could be enough. No, I can't do this. Stop this.

My body moved on its own. I was powerless. The only thing I could hear was his breath filling his lungs and the refreshed blood pumping through his drumming heart.

As the wind blew and my body lurched into a run, his sweet smell entranced me further.
