"Dadi chalo na hum late hojayenge," Ruhi spoke while grasping her Dadi's hand. Given that it had been a whole month since she had last seen her father, she was really eager to see him. He had been too preoccupied at work to spend some time with her, so the anticipation of finally meeting him after such a long time was high.
(Dadi, please hurry up we'll be late.)She had called her father last night and asked him to take two days off to spend some time with her, and Raman, being the doting father that he is, agreed.
"Ruk ja puttar mainu bag ta lene de," Santoshi chuckled at the little girls enthusiasm, Ruhi is excited to meet her father and she herself is excited to meet her son, it had been a long time since she had seen her son.
(Wait a minute darling, let me take the bag.)Well, to be really honest she last spoke with him—in a sincere, heart-to-heart manner—it has been years. These days, all her son would discuss was his daughter's daily schedule, his siblings' careers, and his parents' needs never about himself. She didn't like this version of her eldest child she want to help him out at any cost but his son had gone too far from her to even attempt to do so.
She frequently blamed herself for Raman's misery, claiming that if she hadn't been so eager to get his son married at such a young age, he would have been happy.
She longed the times when he would come back home from work and rant about his day at office, and how much he loved her cooking, and then those head massage for which Raman and Romi would always fight. She really missed that time when her family was close and together.
She holds those memories close to her heart because they give her courage today and that's all she was left with.
"Oh Toshi ji! Kithe khogayi tussi? Ruhi kabse bula rahi hai," She swiftly shook her head and wiped a single tear from her face when the voice of her husband jolted her out of her reverie. Omprakash saw his wife's eyes getting wet, concerned he approached her.
(Where are you lost, Toshi ji? Ruhi is calling.)"Ki Hoya Toshi ji?" He asked holding her hand.
(What happened Toshi ji?)"Kuch nahi Bhalla ji-"
"Dadi! Dadu! What are you waiting for, we are getting late?" Ruhi's ran inside the house and hold her grandparents hand dragging them out of the house, she's getting late to meet her father and they don't understand it.
"Haan mere bachongde chaal," Santoshi smiled holding Ruhi's hand.
(Yes, my child let's go.)The Iyer family's front door opened as they stepped out of their house, and Ishita hurried out while urgently shouting on the phone. "Dr. Neeta and I won't be there today, Sarika, so make an appointment for tomorrow... yes...okay" she picked up the phone and glanced at Ruhi and her grandparents who were waiting there greeting them she questioned, "Ruhi baccha aap kaha Jaa rahe ho?"
(Where are you going, Ruhi?)"Mumbai. Papa ke pass Ishita aunty, we are going to airport,"
Ishita smiled as Ruhi yelled joyfully. (Ishita Aunty, please meet father.)
"That's very nice, so how excited are you?" Ishita inquired, ignoring the fact that Ruhi face was lit up with delight.
"Aunty, I am very excited!" Ruhi showed her joy by spreading her hands as wide as she could. "OK, Ishita Aunty, we're running late. Byee."Ishita reacted by waving to the cheerful girl who dashed down the stairs to her car.
"Have a safe journey, Auntie and Uncle Ji," Ishita murmured as she turned to face Santoshi and Omprakash, who nodded and then walked away.
"Ishu, kanna dhyan se drive krna," Madhavi said stepping out of her house dabbing her hand with a saree corner.
(Ishu, drive safely.)Ishita exclaimed "Okay Amma, you don't worry," as she descended the stairs and made her way to her car.
Turning on the engine, she accelerated and drove onto the main road; she has a conference to attend today, and the site is forty-five minutes away; checking at the time, Ishita realises she has plenty of time. As she slowed her automobile, she dialled her younger cousin, Mihika, and placed the phone on speaker.
"Hello Akka," says Mihika as she answers the phone. Hearing her sister's voice made Ishita happy. "Hello Mihku, how are you? Is everything fine in Mumbai?"
"Everything is OK, Akka. "How are you doing?"
"I'm just heading up to my conference, and since you're always busy, I thought I'd call you," Ishita said sarcastically. Mihika had been keeping something from her for a few weeks, and the constant decline in the number of calls had increased her doubts.
"Akka, you know work keeps me busy! Anyway leave all that you are coming to Mumbai next week right?" Mihika asked dodging the topic of her being busy.
"Yes, Vandu Akka and me will have flight at nine on Friday, we will probably arrive till eleven-thirty," Ishita informed as she took the left turn, and then both the sister chatted for a while before hanging up the call.

"Papaaaaa" Ruhi screamed as she saw her father waiting for her at the airport. She rushed as fast as she could, leaving her Dadi's hand behind, while Raman bent down and extended his arms wide to catch his little ball of energy.
"I missed you so much, papa," Ruhi whispered, wrapping her arm around her father's neck holding him as tight as she could. Raman too tightened his grip on her and inhaled her baby aroma, she's his home and only soul who offered him serenity and staying away from this angel had been a difficult effort, he missed her so much.
"Papa missed you too beta, but I promise ab Mera kaam bohot jaldi khatam ho jaayega aur phir papa wapas Delhi aajayenge," Raman said stepping out her daughters hold and gazed at her tenderly when her eyes shined with joy hearing her father will return soon.
(Papa missed you too, but now I promise you that my work here will complete soon and then I'll be back to Delhi.)"Sachi papa?" Ruhi asked and Raman nodded bumping his nose to hers. "Yes, Papa will be back to his sweet little girl," Ruhi giggled sweetly and Raman couldn't help but admire his little girls voice, God! How much he missed his daughter.
"Raman puttar," Santoshi called out to her son and Raman stood up leaving Ruhi and hugged his mother and father. He has really missed his family. His mother fussed over him all the way to his apartment in Mumbai, complaining that how weak he's getting and how he's not taking proper care of himself.
As much as it annoyed Raman it also made him happy.
