Day 2 of my "attempt to 30 days of writing challenge"

══════════════════════

Art is only for the talented.

This was a fact you had long ingrained within your mind as your hand painfully left strokes of graphite, whose ugliness scorched your eyes, stinging them with pain and drawing tear marks on your cheeks. You tire of it. Of how you always seemed to be at a standstill, how improvement was always painstakingly slow (no thanks to your impatience, your sense of urgency to "be good"), and how no matter what, you never were able to make something beautiful or captivating.

A sacrifice had to be made for your happiness, you were aware.

And so you let go of the brush.

Yet even after silently erasing "Tokyo University of the Arts" — let's face it, you were never going to make it anyway — on your career form, something compelled you to stay in the art club. Was it what people call a foolish thread of hope, something to reignite your love for art? Or maybe, you never planned to let go in the first place?

It wasn't until you met the delinquent that you started to realize what fate wanted to show you.

Yatora Yaguchi, the hard working, the passion-driven, the one who gave up everything for the sake of arts... His mania and pure motivation kicked your heart to the rhythm of a tune you knew so well — the song of love, that is. Your heart beat along his voice that spoke so lovingly of his love for arts, you couldn't help but wonder if he'd speak the same for you.

Perhaps the reason for your fall was the glimpse of yourself you saw in him... Or rather, you saw what you didn't have in him.

And you think, maybe, you were the sacrificial lamb to this, the sacrifice made for fate to lead you to this encounter that torched you in the green glow of jealousy, setting your soul ablaze with unbearable envy — the sin weighed heavy on you, as with guilt.

For you love him so much, but also hate. Hatred of such intensity that drowned out the fervent hymns cupid sung.

You should've been him, you could've been him.

But your sacrifice was chosen long ago.
