"I chained it up in a barn outside the Barrier," Dowling informed Silva, stood facing the window, looking out at Alfea's grounds, a faint glow emitting from the moon alone.
"You should've killed it." Silva shook his head. "Or at least let that fairy kill it."
"And left it in the human world?"
"You should have brought it back here and then killed it." Silva reworded his sentence choice, walking closer to Dowling who turned around to face him. "Did it break your skin?"
"No, I'm not infected." She shook her head. "And that fairy- Daphne- she's much more powerful than we thought. She commanded it to sleep-"
"Commanded?" Silva raised his eyebrows. "Since when could fairy's manipulate others?"
"Since the age of Nymph's." Dowling answered gravely.
"You don't think she...?" Silva trailed off.
"No. It's not possible." Dowling hesitantly shook her head. "I've got Ben to make up some oil from the Zanbaq flowers in the greenhouse. I've dosed it. It won't be conscious for hours."
"Farah..." Silva disagreed with how she was going about this, knowing the best thing was to kill the creature.
"I need to get in its head." Dowling interrupted his disapproval, "We need to know if this is an isolated incident or something more."
"Something more?" Silva crossed his arms over his chest. "Like what?"
"I found a changeling in the First World." Dowling admitted.
"A changeling." Silva couldn't quite exactly believe what he was hearing, moving his head to the side. "I've not heard of one of those in centuries."
"Yet there she was... left 16 years ago, right around the time the last Burned One was spotted." Dowling explained the route of her suspicion and theory.
"You think it's all connected." Silva took a step back, realisation hitting him.
"I'm struggling, Saul. Rosalind kept so much from us. I'm worried about the students. The Alfea they know is very different from the one we attended. They have so much life to experience. Even if this world was safe, what they're going through can feel impossible. But this world isn't safe, and I don't know how long we'll be able to protect them from it. I know you feel it. The... shift. They've had order for so long, they don't know what chaos feels like."
"They might soon."
"Which is why Daphne will be training with both Specialists and Fairies. She's had too much chaos it seems. Friends, school- I think it's quite obvious that she needs something normal in her life." Dowling was concerned for the new student. She got the impression that Daphne had been on her own for too long.
