Aliah's POV

It's a week away from Halloween, my favorite holiday, and I've decided to go walking in the forest near my school just to get more into the spooky air of things. I passed the giant maple tree and continued crunching through the leaves. The sun was high in the sky, only a few happy little fluffy clouds in sight. I come across a stream and see something a bit unusual. It's a pale white kind of like a fossil. I go take a closer look and…it IS a fossil. I decided to take a picture and memorize the landmarks around it so I can dig it up later. I know I should have called it in but I wanted to make sure first.

Four days later

"How deep in the ground is this thing?!" I shout at the forest around me. I've been digging this up for four days. Four days! And it still isn't out of the ground yet. I'm already about two feet down and three feet out. I should call this in since I know it's a fossil, but I kind of want all the glory to myself y'know. So I'll keep digging myself.

Two days later

Today is Halloween, but that's not the only thing I'm excited about. The fossil is going to be out of the ground today! Plus it's a full moon on Halloween. That hasn't happened in years! I start digging. After an hour or two I gave one last pull on the fossil and it popped out! I now realize it's a sword of some kind and it had these weird ancient markings on it. I shrug and decide to walk home and get ready for my Halloween night, go into the basement and watch horror movies with popcorn and candy!

Once I grabbed everything I immediately went to the basement. The time read 5:49 so I clicked on the TV and started the popcorn. After the popcorn was finished I sat on the couch and started the movie marathon. I decided to start with a classic like the movie Nightmare on Elm Street.

The movie had finished so I started the Halloween series and got myself some more popcorn plus I snagged some ice cream from the freezer.

It was about 9 when IT started happening. The sword started glowing and I don't mean the light made it look like it was glowing. No, it was really glowing. And an eerie orange glow too. I felt a sense of foreboding and wondered what I should do. I felt like a deer in headlights at this point, just standing there staring at it glow. But my brain eventually caught up and I started freaking out. I was pacing wondering why the sword was glowing orange. But I didn't dare scream out, no, if it was something horrible then I don't want to endanger anyone but myself since I was the one that dug it up in the first place. Also I was the only one home.

The sword started shaking on the floor near my bag still glowing that sickly orange color. Then it started to lift up from the ground and I could see a hand start to materialize gripping the hilt of the sword. After the hand came an arm, then a shoulder and head, then a torso, legs, and finally the other shoulder, arm and hand. I gasped in fear. I watched as the now solid man turns his head to look at me.

"Who-no-what are you?" I questioned the man. He just continued staring almost like he hadn't heard me at all. Then he began to look around my basement until he finally spoke.

"What year is it?" He rasped lowly. The he frowned almost like he wasn't used to having his voice sound like that beforw he asked, "may I have some water?"

I quickly nodded and rushed to get the guy some water hoping that if I did what he said I wouldn't die. When I came back he had turned around looking at the rest of the room. I hesitantly tapped him on his shoulder and backed up quickly when he whipped around almost hitting me with his sword.

"Here's your..uh..water," I told him a bit shaken from almost being cut in half. He just nodded seeming a bit disappointed in himself. I decided to get to know him a bit better because one he seemed disappointed that he almost killed me(or that he missed) and so I'll have more information to give the authorities. "So...what's your name?" I asked him a bit awkwardly. He quickly finished his water then he told me.

"My name...? Hmm..I don't remember my name," he frowned trying to think of his own name while I deflated. My plan has backfired very much. So I started my next question.

"Okay then... we'll figure that out later but what even are you?" I questioned. He seemed to think for a few seconds.

"I am the soul stuck in this object," he holds up the sword for emphasis, "and I used to be a warrior...I think..." He trails off unsure of his own words. Then he remembers "You never told my the year, so could you please be so kind as to inform me miss..." He trails off again not knowing my name.

"It's Halloween in the year 2022. And my real name is none of your concern so just call me Myers," I chose the name Myers from watching Halloween and used it to keep myself a bit more of a secret incase he was trying to use my name for something. But he just nodded.

"I guess that's fair. I just show up in your home, you don't know anything about me really so I understand the lack of trust." He nods approvingly with his words. Then his eyes widen "it's 2022?! Really?! I've been gone for over 2000 years!" Now it's my turn to be surprised. Two thousand years! That's a long time to be gone. But it only makes more questions appear like how old this guy is, and what he means by 'gone'. Ultimately I decide I need to find out more about this mysterious figure that appeared in my home.
