When the sound of the new, digital alarm clock woke [Y/N], her mind immediately went to Jimin, who she had written to the night before, just prior to falling asleep, following her best friend's advice.
She retrieved her phone from the bedside table, and unlocked it apprehensively. She opened with trepidation Jimin's chat, only to happily find his good night and good morning texts.
Her heart started beating normally again. She had feared that, since yesterday he hadn't responded immediately to her messages, he'd changed his mind about her. Luckily, that wasn't the case. With butterflies in her stomach, [Y/N] answered him, and he, oddly enough already awake, continued the conversation until she had to leave her house to go to work.[Y/N] felt more and more confident that she had made the right choice to connect with him after their date. After all, [Y/N] had found Jimin really intriguing: he seemed to be extremely easygoing, humorous and confident at the same time.
She was so caught up in the conversation she was having with him, that when she came out of the front door she passed Jungkook, who was waiting for her on the porch, without even noticing him.
"Hey, since when did I become invisible?" He called her back, incredulous.
[Y/N] snapped her head up, brought back to reality by Jungkook's voice. She laughed in embarrassment as she turned to her friend, pointing to her phone. "Sorry JK, I was super focused on the chat".
"Who are you texting?" Jungkook's tone immediately changed from amused to inquiring.
"Do you remember the guy that we rescued at the end of Monday's shift?" She replied, and after Jungkook nodded, she continued. "Well, yesterday he showed up again at the pool. We practically spent the whole day together. He's really cute", she smiled.
Jungkook bit the inside of his cheek, struck dumb with amazement. Of course Jimin had to show up the only day he skipped work! "So... how did you get his number?"
"We simply went out together yesterday after my shift and he gave it to me", [Y/N] replied nonchalantly.
"Went out?!" Jungkook nearly stopped walking, but jerked forward quickly beside her.
"Yes, he asked me to go out. We spent the evening together".
Jungkook noticed that her gaze was lost, as she was probably thinking back to the previous evening. He wanted to know more and, although it could have hurt him, he pushed her to speak. "And what did you two do?"
"What is this, an interrogation?" She laughed, lightly slapping Jungkook's arm, but he wasn't in the mood to joke around.
"Come on, what did you do?" He insisted, secretly fearing the worst.
She rolled her eyes with annoyance. "We didn't do anything crazy, JK. We went to get an ice cream and then he gave me a ride in his car, and-"
"Did you get in the car with him?!" Jungkook abruptly interrupted her.
"Yes", the girl looked at him with a raised eyebrow, wondering what was going on with him.
"Alone?" Jungkook continued.
"Of course", [Y/N] was slightly annoyed by his continuous cutting in. "As I was saying before you interrupted me, we went to get an ice cream and he even offered to pay... oh, he's so generous... then, we decided to eat something else. He insisted on paying for dinner too, even though I told him it was not absolutely necessary,..."
Jungkook was no longer listening to her, too busy not to let on that his heart was painfully aching with every word she was saying about Jimin. If only she had looked up at his face, she would have noticed the muscles in his jaw clenching in frustration.
