Chapter Three

Chapter 3
Then... 5 years later...

"I got a promotion!" I yell at Aster when I sit down across from her. She finishes the work she'd been working on, and jumps from her chair and ushers me into a hug.

"I knew it! I just knew you could make it, you're an editor! You're going to be such a boss!" Aster comments, and I beam in happiness. Aster has had my back throughout my career and through my last 2 years of college. Juggling an internship, college, and even getting called back to work at the publishing house as an assistant was a lot for a girl to handle.

Yet Aster was a god sent, and I couldn't imagine my life without her to brighten it. Now after being an assistant, I finally made enough leeway in that I was optioned for editor. I couldn't be happier.

If I imagined my life how it would look in the 2 years since I left Forks, Washington. Teen Bella wouldn't know what to do with herself.

"Let's go out and celebrate after work, Bella! It's the least a best friend can do for you."

"That'll be awesome." I replied back to her. Apparently since I made Editor, that means I have my own office.

"You're going to hate me though real soon."

"And why is that?"

"Because the promotion means we're not going to be roomies. I have an office...".

"Bella, what am I going to do with you? I could never hate you."

"Thanks for that."

"Anytime bestie! Now I'm counting down till I'll take you out!"

Laughing at Aster's excitement, Bella packed her things. She was ready for this promotion. Like she tackled everything else, she would rock being editor.

"Bella, here's the copies that you requested."

"Thanks, Janine - just set them right there. I will look over them."

Bella watched as Janine sat them on her desk and walked out.

She only had an hour left before she clocked out for the day. So for the next hour Bella solely focused on her job making sure each sentence was right, the topic was right, that everything about what she was looking over had the same focus as her own writing.
With the last sentenced read, Bella stood up from her desk. It was finally time to celebrate with Aster!

When Bella exited the building, Aster was already waiting outside. Though she stopped and her heart stopped.

Aster was holding a bouquet of flowers, roses to be exact. Aster walked nearer and nearer, I was completely in a state of shock.

"And for your present on your promotion." Aster said lightly, and leans in and kisses me gently on the lips...

Bella's heart skips a beat. And when Aster's lips depart from hers, Bella tugs on Aster, pulling her close and in again for another kiss. Till both of them were out of breath and giggling.

Walking down the street and celebrating just how much they became real to each other.
