Kids run past me in a stampede, I walk slowly on the sides opting to not get trampled. The end of the last day of school is always a zoo, for me it just means relief.
Sophomore year was a hell hole and I can't wait for the quiet calm summer I'll be having at home in the cool air conditioning.
California is great and all but it get's hot out here in the Summer and it's not like I have friends anyway.
Sooner or later I get to the door and I brace myself for the blinding light that shines through the fluffy white clouds and blue sky. As per usual my parents aren't here to pick me up and I don't have a car so I walk home.
The sun is white hot and sweat drips down my back, I take the usual shortcut through my favorite place.
As per usual I am greeted by a tunnel of trees that provide shade as I walk down it and the cool breeze holds relief in it's gentle hands.
Soon I've made it through the tunnel to the garden of roses. The red, purple, and pinks of the roses fill my vision and their intoxicating scent makes me feel as if I've been living without air.
The trees behind all the bushes keep the area shaded making it seem like my own little oasis here. I sit down next to a bush of red speckled with white roses.
My house is just across the street from the exit of this magical place but I chose to stay here. I lay my head back and close my eyes, the memories flow behind my eyes.
My best friend of nine years and I used to play here, she was the only person I had ever felt close with. I always felt different than the rest and I don't enjoy human interaction, but with her it was easy.
One day her parents decided to move to New York, she came to see me and with many tears we parted and I haven't seen her since. I haven't missed her for a few years but the memories still bring me joy.
With a jolt I'm awoken from my reverie when pounding footsteps come close. I scramble up to look around the corner to see a girl around my age there.
She looked at the flowers with an adoring smile, a strange twinge of recognition made me narrow my eyes. She has a chocolate skin and straight snow white hair, she wears a leather jacket and black leggings.
Her eyes are the strangest color of dark green that reminds me of a forest, wait I know those eyes.
