This summer

When I was little, my parents divorced.

I went with my mom, and she thought it would be great for a fresh start.

In my new neighborhood I met the Fisher boys and soon met the Conklin kids.

Me, Steven, and Jere always had a close bond.

Nobody could break us apart. We thought.

That was until my grandmother got seriously ill when I was 10.

My mom and I moved back to our hometown to stay with my grandmother because we were the only ones available.

My mom always said not to get my first job too young, nor too old. And now that I'm 17 I decided that I needed a job.

I signed up for 3 summer jobs. Failed 2. But I got a summer job at the Country Club.

I don't ever recall being there, but my mother always tells me about our experiences there.

She says there is an amazing breeze. It's not too cold or too hot. I thought it was perfect.

I'm driving there in a few hours. 2 pm exactly. I think I'll get there by 11. But for now, here I am packing.

"Paris come down!" My mother yelled out from downstairs.

"Coming mama!" I said zipping up my toiletry bag. I made sure I had everything in my bags and ran downstairs.

"Yes mom?" I said before stopping at the end of the stairs. "Suprise!" My mother, cousins, aunts, and uncles shouted excitedly.

"Oh my gosh.." I said shocked. I put down my bags at the end of the stairs and hugged my mom.

"How?" I asked my mom pulling out of the hug. "They snuck in." She smiled.

"How did I not notice?" I asked super confused.

"Well, considering the fact that your music was up so loud, it was pretty easy." Mom said laughing.

I look to my side and see someone I haven't seen in such a long time..

"Geegee!" I squealed hugging her. "Hi Paris!" She laughed. "Oh my God, I haven't seen you in so long." I laughed. "Same!!" She hugged me tighter.

Me and Geegee have grown up together ever since we were born. Her real name is Genevieve but we call her Geegee for short.

We did everything together. We bathe together when we were babies, we went to preschool together, even the same elementary and middle schools. We were basically sisters.

She moved half way through our sophomore year because my uncle enrolled her into a private school in Australia.

"How was Australia?" I asked her now that we're sitting down together. "Oh you know, just everything they say." She laughs. "Really?" I let out a small chuckle.

"Well, for most parts of it. Sometimes it's really pretty though. Like breathtaking pretty." She exclaims. "Wow.. how are the snacks?" I asked.

"Oh my gosh.. They have so many weird ones. You know those crunchy insects? Well, they have a snake one there." She said and my mouth dropped. "Eww!" I laugh.

"I know right!" She laughed.

We ate, and danced, and played games. I got to catch up with everyone. It was literally awesome.

Everyone left and I helped my mom clean up.

"Thank you mama.. for this. For everything." I said sitting on the sofa with her.

"Don't worry about it baby." She said as we cuddled on the couch.

"I'll miss this." I sadly laugh. "Me too.. But hey, it's just 2 months baby. You'll do fine." She said.

"I know... but I can't imagine living without you or nanny." I smile.

"Come on.. it's time for you to go." She smiled. "Okay." I get up.

"Mom, come!" Mom said as granny got up from the sofa.

"I'll miss you guys." I wave to them as I close the trunk.

"I'll miss you too baby." Mom sent a flying kiss.

"Bye nanny. Make sure mom takes he meds okay?" I laugh. She nods in response.

I get in my car and start pulling myself out of the driveway.

I wave to them once more before driving off.
