The Push

Bakugou sat at the lounge in front of a tablet he used to look through the students names in his course. The more he looked into it the more he knew he was screwed without the help of Kirishima. They had been so close to succeeding in a real soul bond. But he couldn't put the man through a memory like that, especially since it wasn't mandatory for him. He knew what he was doing was right, and yet he couldn't get Kirishima's sad expression out of his mind. He hardly knew the man he had so easily bonded with, so why did he throw his chance away, and why couldn't he shake this feeling such guilt. He had been sighing all day, much more than usual, though he hadn't realized his own stress. He paused as he finally found two more names he could look into. Iida and Uraraka, they were temporary soul bonds since their past partners graduated and or moved on. He hadn't really gotten along with Iida before but he could tolerate Uraraka. She could be ditsy at times but she knew her streangths and was always ready to take the next step to being better. Of the females in their classes she was easily one he could see himself flying with. However there was the matter of her being close with Deku. He couldn't stand being anywhere near that nerd. But again his options were tight and Uraraka could be a good fit for him. He decided that he would seak her out and ask her about trying a soul bond with him later that afternoon.

He locked the tab standing up from the couch as he made his way through the lounge to begin the search for the young woman. His guesses were that she was either at the mess or the gym. The lounge was beside the Gymnasium along with the other common rooms surrounding the Mess Hall. He first tried the gym finding Ojiro, Shouji, and Tokoyami training together. The three looked over their shoulder ready to talk to the male only to watch him off again. He then immediately made his way to cafeteria. There he was glad to find the young brunette but was immediately dissapointed when he saw Todoroki and Deku with her. It wasn't uncommon to see them all be together but he wanted to talk to her alone. He paused momentarily debating on waiting for another time before just deciding to go for it. He marched over to the table completely ignoring the two males with her.

"Round face." He said. "I wanna talk to you."

"Bakugou, right now?" The young brown eyed girl was a bit taken back.

"Yes." He pressed on. "Alone."

"S-sure." She gulped before standing up. "I'll be right back."

The two boys at the table watched Bakugou move Ochako out into the hall. Deku was curious and concerned while Todoroki seemed unfazed. The blond stepped out into the hall leaning against the cold metalic wall trying to think of the right way to say what he wanted.

Uraraka teetered on her heals looking around. "Soooo whats up?" She tried to start the conversation.

"Your soul bond is temporary with Iida right?" He wanted to make sure.

"Well.... Yeah?" Ururaka raised a brow.

"I'm going to fly the new Mecha in 37 days but I need a partner." He said getting straight ro the point.

"Woah, are you asking me to soul bond with you?" Her cheaks went flush.

Bakugou broke eye contact with her simply responding with. "Yes."

"Well I wanna talk to Iida about it first, but flying the new Mecha would be pretty cool." She thought about it.

"Do whatever you want but I'm pressed for time." Bakugou pushed.

"I thought you had 37 days?" She raised a brow.

"I know that!" He snapped. "I just want this done so we can start training as a unit."

This was mostly a lie of course, although he thought Uraraka could be a decent fit he also worried they wouldn't be able to soul bond and his hunt would continue. He wanted to get back into the pods as soon as possible.

"I heard about your other soul bonds." Uraraka admitted suddenly.

"What?!" The blond wondered who had been spreading the rumor.

"I don't mind trying a few times if it doesn't work the first. Iida and I didn't have the easiest time at first either." She explained. "When I was partnered with Midoriya it was super smooth and natural. I thought thats how all soul bonds should be. But when Iida and I finally connected I realized sometimes relationships need a little work."

Bakugou hadn't thought of it like that before. No one had ever really explained their soul bonds other than if you fail your body rejects it as well. This made him feel better about all the attempts and also confirmed his decision to ask the brunette.

"Hmph, I know that." He played cool.

"Alright, well I'll talk to Iida then I'll message you later."

"Yeah, no problem." He calmed.

He watched Uraraka off feeling mixed emotions. He felt at ease for finding a partner willing to work on compatibility. But his gut also wrenched with unnecessary guilt once again. The red haired mechanic kept popping up in his mind especially after he ditched him in the SACU. He just wanted to be rid of that man's memory already so he could focus on the job ahead. As if the world heard his wish and wanted to give him a big "fuck you" he heard his name being called.

"Bakugou!"

He looked up in irritation to see the scarred stone man running up to him with that same hopeful grin.

"Hey man, why'd you run off earlier? I've been looking all over for you."

"Why?" He scowled.

"Cause I said I'd help ya!"

"Well I dont need it." Bakugou tried to leave.

"Come on man, I promise I'm okay so let's try again! We were so close, you felt it right?" He chased after the blond.

"Felt it?" Bakugou swished around. "I felt nothing! Why the hell are you still here anyways? I said I dont need you so get the fuck outta here."

"I know you're just putting on a big manly front to protect me but I'm telling you I'm okay!" Kirishima fought.

"Protect YOU?!" Bakugou lost it. "I don't give a rats ass what happens to you. You're a mechanic, you aren't made for this, you have no idea whats going on. We aren't friends, we ain't buddies so stop acting like it. I dont know you and I don't owe you a god damn thing."

"Eijiro." Kirishima said.

"What?" Bakugous face turned to disgust.

"Eijiro Kirishima. Its my name. You said you didn't know me so I might as well tell you my name." His smile never wavered although the man was cruel to him.

Bakugou moved closer getting into his face. "Go back to picking rocks out of my Mecha's teeth, Eijiro Kirishima." He said coldly.

"Not until I've helped you like I said I would."

Bakugou's tab beeped, he backed up reaching into his pocket to see a text from Uraraka. He sighed putting it back as he began to move away from the male.

"I said you're done. I already have a partner, so fuck off."
