Changing His Life

Hayden is in my 1st period. What am I going to do? This is above me. I glance restless around the classroom until I see a seat, but it's right next to Hayden. I walk carefully over to the abandoned desk, and place my items down as well as myself. 

"Carter I see you've found a seat how about you come up here and introduce yourself. As for the rest of you I don't really mind, because you all know each other." Mr. Stephens express and I feel my whole body shudder. After a while all eyes are on me like an animal stalking prey, my breathing starts to hitch, but I step out of my seat and make my way to the front of the room. By the time I make it to the front I feel lightheaded, it's always been so hard fro me to talk to large crowds, and on top of all that I don't even know any of these people. Silence fills the room as my peers stare at me waiting for me to introduce myself.

"Well...........H-hello. My name is Carter Hazes I moved from Georgia to here this pasted weekend my my family. I don't know much about North Carolina, but I have a cousin who goes here to which you all probably know.....Indie Hazes. i don't really know what mean to share with you, so if you any questions then answer I guess" I manage to speak and only mess up that one time. As soon as I get finished speaking a girls hand shoots up, oh crap why did I even say this. I look at her and nod giving her permission to speak.

"Isn't your dad Michael Hazes, the one who has the best wine", her voice speaks and I wish it didn't it to high-pitched.

"Yes that's my father. He is the main reason we moved here, he has a winery opening down here sometime soon", I answer her question.

"Wow you are lucky that wine is great girlfriend we should totally be friends so I can get some for free" 

"Now that's enough Lauren, don't mind her Carter. Thank you for such a lovely introduction of yourself. I am so glad to have you here with us this year. I will do my best to make you feel as comfortable as possible, when you are in both inside and outside of my class. I am sure that most others are going to treat you the same. " Mr. Stephen's interrupts us stopping the conversation from going any farther. 

"Thank you",I say taking my seat next to Hayden.

"Today we are going to go over a lot of information you will need for the school year. I hope you all take it to heart some of it is important. I am going to go over my rules with you, yes I am going to treat the first day like the first day should be treated, but before anything happens you will do your starters. Starters will be posted on the board every single day, unless I am dead. You'll be responsible for getting yours done. After I think you've had enough time to think about it, we will briefly discuss it with the class. Normally starters are what take us into our lesson plans, but don't always count on it, some days I'' put review questions up there.  Thinking about never doing them, well that's stupid because they count for 20% of your grade. Don't think they will be easy either, I try to make them hard so you all will be ready for college this is an AP class you know. Also if after today you think you are going to be lazy or bum your way through this class don't think about returning there are so many other teachers here, whom may be willing to teach someone like that but this kid here ain't going to do it. I am 26 years old yes young , but don't test me I will put you in your place quickly. In this classroom I honestly don't care what you do as long as you get my work done beforehand, but lets just focus on today, so do your starter, on a piece a paper or in notebooks whichever suit you. If you are doing them on another sheet of paper please actually keep up with it." Mr.Stephen concludes , and I like him already.
