"What the hell is this?" I demanded.
It was early morning in San Angelo. The air was crisp and cold, my face reddish from wind burn. The office I was sitting in had bland grey walls and white carpet. Everything about the captains office was bland. He had no family photos nor any decorations. the only thing on his old wood desk was a 7 year old computer.

"I'm sorry ms.lawson, but this is your case I don't care if you do not like it."

Captain was in a irritable mood which meant there was money problems. Again.

"Did they make more budget cuts...Oh captain don't worry the money will be here soon." I lied right to his face.

I knew that the bank would refuse the loan. Captain has been in debt for years, but the agency was vandalized by a group of drug dealing thugs that i put in jail. They destroyed almost everything. we lost so much paperwork ,years worth. That loss put the company in complete jeopardy. over half of the detectives quit within the week. There is about 7 detectives left , counting me. I am the only girl. Which doesn't help the weirdness of my young age. I am only 17 but I already graduated college and I've been working ever since. The legal system calls me a prodigy or a miracle. I have solved countless cases in my two years. Most of them small things like drug dealers,gangs and illegal transportation. But the case that sat in front of me was about a double homicide. I opened the folder and read in amazement...

"Murder? you are giving me a murder case? And on my week off?"
I was furious and scared. I had never been trusted with a murder case, they always said I was to young, and it's my week off! I shouldn't have to work.

Captain shook his head, "calm down Elena, you know you are ready for this. And I know it was your week off but no one else is good enough."

I rolled my eyes. Captain always handed me sly complements when he knew I was mad.

"Cap a double murder? And he's 18 I can't play cop he wouldn't take me seriously."
I closed the folder and sat it on his desk angrily.
Noticing this captain stood up and walked to his door. He was a short round man with big kind eyes and plump cheeks.

"Elena, I know you are not use to this but your birthday is in 6 days. You will be old enough to work these cases all the time. I thought this would be good for you." I looked up at him.
He had a point but my stubbornness did not reason with him.

"The case is easy, all the evidence is racked up against him. We just need a confession."

I was tired of arguing so I shrugged and said,

"how do I get to him. What's my strategy?"

Captain told me my mission in a very detailed report. I had to go to small town bastrop and enroll in high school. Alexander j. wolf was about to get a new friend.
