Get off that Horse!

Disclaimer: I don't not own Steven Universe!!! *sigh* Also, "SuperFruityChewy Bubble Gum" is not a real product as far as I'm concerned. I made it up.

Notes: This is an AU now that I have been informed Steven doesn't attend school....oops. Also, I didn't edit this much.

Steven's first field trip was approaching and the Crystal Gems had made sure they were going to be there. Unfortunately, they were not students and weren't allowed to attend unless they were volunteering as chaperons. Knowing that, Amethyst had gotten rather upset and ended up yelling at Steven's teacher saying "I DON'T WANNA HAVE TO WORK I JUST WANNA HAVE FUN WITH STEVEN!" Before collapsing dramaticly on the floor. After Amethyst's little 'episode' Pearl had accepted the offer, knowing chaperoning was better than nothing, and forcing Amethyst to sign the form from her place on the floor . apologizing to the teacher for Amethyst's "absurd behavior."

Now, Steven sat on the dirty yellow school bus taking the students to their destination: a small farm on the side of Beach City. Steven had been told they were going to be observing the animals there and writing a paper on an animal of their choice and how they contribute to society. He was less than excited about the work. In his opinion it was pointless to assign work during a field trip, considering half the kids would write a sentence or two before coming up with some lame excuse of why they couldn't continue. It just wasn't worth the teacher's effort

Steven tried to put the thought of work out of his head. Today was supposed to be fun and thinking about the assignment would only cause stress. It wasn't hard to find a distraction with Pearl, Amethyst, and Garnet around. Pearl and Amethyst were currently sitting a few seats behind Steven, having some sort of inaudible argument. They were talking rather loudly, as if they were unaware of the other people present on the bus. Steven sighed, mentally groaning, he loved the Gems but in all honestly they had a tenancy to embarrass Steven in public. He couldn't exactly blame them though, in a way they lacked certain "people skills" and often forgot how to act in a public environment.

Though he couldn't make out what they were arguing about Steven was able to catch bits and pieces which sounded something like: "You were the one who unpacked the..." And "Then how do you explain the chips in the bathtub!?"

A laugh bubbled up from deep in his throat. Pearl and Amethyst were so different it was amazing they were still friends.

Garnet on the other hand sat perched on the seat across from Steven's, her long legs tucked into the seat compartment, flesh pressed deep into the old leather of the bus seat in attempt to keep from hanging in the aisle. Steven winced, the position didn't look comfortable at all and he knew Garnet would be paying for it the next day. He made a mental note to pick up pain killers from the drug store. Leaning back in the torn seat of the bus Steven closed his eyes. Good time to catch up on sleep. He thought, before drifting into a dreamless sleep.

Steven awoke to the squeal of tires against tar mixed with sand as they parallel parked on the road next to the farm. "Millings Farm" the sign on the barn read. The sign was painted a cheerful red but judging by the looks it hadn't been replaced in a while. The corners were peeled up revealing a woody brown underneath, the paint of the letters which was white, had also deteriorated making it almost unidentifiable.

But Steven liked it. It made it look like an old farm from the 1800s. Not that he would tell anyone, but secretly Steven loved the Wild West. He even dressed up as a cowboy one Halloween and even scared Lars into giving him his SuperFruityChewy Bubble Gum with his fake gun. Of course Lars didn't know it was fake.
