Running. Screaming. Blood dripping down my face. Mom. Dad. This is what I remember from my nightmare. This is the third time this week I've woken up from this nightmare. I look over at the clock and see it's 4:45. There's no way I can go back to sleep now, so I decide to get up and start my day. I know today is going to be long. I have to run some errands and then get to work. As I make my way to the kitchen I collect my clothes. Light, breathable robes with a chest plate I found. I made a trade with the Jawas for this. Cost me pieces of a speeder bike but it's totally worth it. Sometimes bad people come through here and I can use all the protection I can considering I'm all by myself. I suit up and pull my boots on and make something to eat. I know I have to make my way to the market today to grab more food and I've been saving up pieces from abandoned ships and bikes so I may trade for pieces I can use on my ships. Then I need to finish one of my clients ships today or he'll kill me. Once the suns have risen I start my journey into the market.
The various vendors line the streets and for once I seem to be early. Usually this area is packed with different life forms from all around. Some born here, some escaping like me. I pick fruits and bread to last me awhile. Various street food that I honestly can't even pronounce. I just know they're good. As I turn I see my boss, Kan and he looks pissed.
"I sincerely hope you're coming here next because if Zargo doesn't get this ship by high afternoon you know exactly what he'll do to the both of us!" Kan yells across the people. I nod and make my way through the forming crowds.
"I'm here, I'm here chill out Kan! Zargo's ship is going to be finished no problem I'm almost done. I always finish on time don't I?" I say as I set all my things down.
"Yes I know you're good, but he doesn't know that. He's called me like 5 times since yesterday to see how it was coming along." He yells from underneath a bike.
I immediately walk to this old Starfighter and get back to finishing the wiring. He said he found this thing in Naboo. I usually don't ask questions though. It's the smartest option. I continue to connect everything and begin one last once over of the thing when suddenly there's a loud crash.
"What the hell was that?! Did you break something?" yelled Kan as I began rushing over. I looked outside our yard and saw a huge gunship that looked like it had seen better days. A man full of armor came stalking out of it. I think he's what they call a Mandalorian. I was always told to stay clear from them. They're terrifying warriors and if you see one? You better hope they aren't there for you. So I quietly walked back into our yard and ran for Kan.
"There's a kriffing Mandalorian out there! A MANDALOR-" I whisper yelled before he slapped his hand over my mouth.
"And you want him to come in here? Shut your mouth!"he lowered his hand as I tried to look like I was busy. For some reason I was nervous. I don't think I've done anything bad, but usually when you see of them that means someone messed up bad. Within minutes Zargo walks in and my mind stops wandering.
"I sincerely hope you guys finished my ship. I need to get this thing running and get out of here now!" He yells as I walk up to him.
"Hi sir yes it's all finished. I replaced some of the bad wiring and had to add another piece to fix the motor, but besides that she's ready to fly." I say wiping the grease from my hands.
"Great, great. Now listen I was gonna pay you with credits, but I see that armor you're wearing. How about I give you some beskar for it? You could make some more." I think for a moment and then finally nod my head. If I can't make anything I'll just sell it. This is expensive stuff. He hands me a bundle and I trade him the keys and just like that he's gone.
"Should I sell this? Or keep it? I can't decide, all I know is this is expensive stuff!" I laugh and so does Kan. We start chatting about all the things I could do if I sell it when suddenly there's a loud bang at our door. We immediately look at each other and I think Kan has a scared look in his eye. Usually the locals just walk right in no one has to knock. I turn to him and mouth
"Let's pretend we're not here!" He shakes his head no. I frown. I'm not going to the door what if it's the Mandalorian??
"It could be a customer! We have to go answer." He looks down as if he's regretting his choice.
"Fine, but if he's gonna kill me I'm telling him you stole this beskar!" I snap back and he laughs. I'm glad he thinks this is funny. I stand from the chair and slowly make my way over. To be honest my knees were shaking. Why were they shaking? Why am I so nervous? Did I do something wrong? Kriff I can't think remember now if I've done anything wrong I'm just worried about opening the door. I finally get to the door and slowly open it. I see the beskar from just the small opening and my heart pounds faster.
"Hi! Welcome to Kan and Y/n's shipyard! How can I help you today?" I say as confidently as I can.
"I uh need someone to look at my ship. I have credits. Something is wrong with the navigation." The deep voice says through a voice moderator. He's tall. Towering over me and I just feel very intimidated. I open the door further and let him inside.
